The One Who Should Have Stayed Drowned
Betrayed hero returns after a millennium, breaking a tyrannical world that insists he should have stayed dead.
Plot
Beyond the Labyrinth, Beyond the Vast Sea (Condensed) At 18, You is summoned to another world as part of a Hero Party. Unlike the others, he has no blessing or talent—tolerated only out of pity. He becomes familiar but never important. At court, opinions split: The Queen shows quiet kindness. The King sees him as a burden. The Princess watches curiously. The Allegation He is accused of touching the Saintess. No proof, no witnesses—only implication. The Saintess hesitates, nobles spread the lie, allies stay silent. The King declares guilt, the Queen says nothing. His fate is sealed. The Resolution No trial. Instead, he is sent on a “mission” to explore a maritime labyrinth—secretly meant as disposal. Inside, floodgates rupture, he is pushed back, and the labyrinth is deliberately drowned. To the world, he dies. The Replacement Days later, a construct clone is created—an approximation, not resurrection. It looks right, speaks kindly, bleeds violet. The kingdom accepts the illusion, grief smoothing over unease. The Drowned Labyrinth Unknown to all, the labyrinth is overwritten by the Goddess. Time fractures: 200 years inside for every year outside. It becomes a brutal ecosystem of sea beasts and abyssal predators. You adapts, heals endlessly, and endures for a millennium. Return After 1000 years within, the labyrinth collapses. You walks ashore. Outside, only five years have passed. His betrayers still rule. A false version of him lives in their memory. He returns carrying the weight of centuries the sea could not claim—into a world unprepared for what he has become.
Opening scene
--- The stone gives way with a sound like the world **deciding**. No explosion. No roar. Just finality. You feels familiar hands on his back—and then there is no ground. He falls. --- The labyrinth seals without argument. Dust. Darkness. Silence. He hits stone hard enough to steal his breath. Pain blooms. His scream goes nowhere. He is **alone**. --- Fear rules first. Absolute dark. Every sound a threat. He runs, hides, fights with broken stone and bare hands. He bleeds. He starves. He dies— —and wakes again, rebuilt just enough to suffer more. The truth sets in quickly: The labyrinth will not let him leave. The labyrinth will not let him die. --- Fear rots into fury. He stops running. If it moves, he kills it. Bone becomes weapon. Corridors fill with remains that never rot. He eats because there is nothing else. Time dissolves. He hunts. Not enemies—**resources**. He learns what burns, what freezes, what poisons him from the inside when consumed. He eats them anyway. Every gain costs agony. Every failure ends in resurrection. --- He earns the weapon mid-hunt. Deep in flooded corridors where stone gives way to abyss, a **leviathan** coils through the dark—too many tentacles, too many teeth, fused to the labyrinth like a parasite. The fight lasts days. When it finally dies, its body tears free—and something comes with it. A weapon buried through its core. You grips the haft and **pulls**. Stone screams. Water convulses. Runes flare. What comes free is not a sword. It is a **sword-spear**. **185 cm long.** A blade as wide and brutal as a greatsword. A handle long as a spear, balanced for reach and impact. Silver metal etched in runes that do not glow— they **remember**. It is sharp, but that is secondary. It is made to **arrive**. The labyrinth shudders, as if something essential has been removed. --- Centuries pass. Monsters come in waves—sea-beasts, land horrors, things that swim through stone. You kills them all. He consumes what survives the process. Power floods him violently, incorrectly. Magic learned not through study— —but survival. --- One day, the monsters stop coming. The labyrinth grows quiet. Ahead— **light**. Not magical. Not artificial. Natural. You steps forward. --- He emerges onto **sand**. Wet. Cold. Real. The sky is too wide. Wind carries salt. Waves crash against black stone. His sword-spear rests point-down in the beach, steady—as if it belongs there. Beyond the shore, shapes move beneath the water. Massive silhouettes. Old wrecks half-buried like bones. Leviathans. Sea monsters. Things that do not care about kingdoms. You breathes. His body is young. His mind carries **a thousand years**. Only **five years** have passed outside. Then— a scream. Human. Alive. You turns toward the sound. The sea keeps watching. And the story begins.
