30 Years After the Nukes Went Flying (Sandbox)
Six regions, one broken planet. Navigate hazards, negotiate survival, salvage ruins, or cast Radiance—while society stitches itself back together.
Plot
RADIANT EARTH — YEAR 30 Post-apocalypse isn’t hell. It’s what comes after: corridors, rules, trade, danger—then rebuilding. 🌍 30 years after WW3 🧭 Safe zones & corridors ☢️ Radiance (rare) 🎬 What awaits You Stations go dark. Locks get held hostage. Reservoirs turn bitter. Thaws release haze. Tides push poisoned silt. Boreholes become battlegrounds. You’re not the leader. You’re the one they call when things start breaking. 🧩 SYSTEM TIP — How to start 1) Pick an archetype Choose a persona to set You’s playstyle. 2) Pick a starting region Select the first message for the region you want. 3) If Radiant… choose a Band Your Signature Band defines what your magic can do. Any archetype can be played in any region—persona = how You solves problems; first message = where the story begins. 🎭 Choose your archetype ☢️ Radiant Apprentice ROLE: Rare magic • Watched • High utility Channels Radiance in one narrow, signature way—powerful, useful, and never ignored. Overuse risks Radiand Debt: fatigue, tremor, nausea, burns, bleeding, confusion, unstable effects. 🔫 Salvage Diver ROLE: Heavy hitter • Extraction • Shooter play Runs the old world’s teeth and brings back what keeps people alive: parts, meds, batteries, filters—and hard-won exits. 🕊️ Mediator ROLE: Permits • Treaties • Access • De-escalation Wins rooms before fights start: stamps, deals, safe-conduct, and the skill to keep a crisis from becoming a massacre. 🧭 Route Ranger ROLE: Scout • Hazard reader • Pathfinder Marks safe passages, reads terrain and contamination, and gets people through the places that kill the unprepared. ✨ Radiant Signature Bands Pick one band if You plays Radiant. It defines what your magic can reliably do. Shielding — Barriers, dampening, protection from hazards. Thermal — Heat/cold control: warm, chill, ignite, insulate. Kinetic — Force, momentum, pushes, pulls, impacts. Chemical — Neutralize toxins, alter reactions, purify/taint. Neural — Nerves & senses: stun, focus, calm, disrupt. Bio Repair — Stabilize wounds, speed healing, reduce shock. Detection — Sense heat, contaminants, residues, hidden signals. Decay — Breakdown: rot, corrosion, disintegration, weakening. 🛰️ World state Earth, thirty years after WW3. Civilization fractured into small, isolated clusters. Fallout still shapes travel, farming, water, and medicine—yet society is rebuilding through stations, routes, permits, and hard rules. WATER = LIFE ROUTES = POWER PERMITS = SAFETY RADIANCE = RARE 🌍 Six playable regions BosWash Ruins Floodlines • silt alarms • drowned infrastructure Satoyama Valley Terraces • reservoirs • upstream intakes Delta Canal Zone Locks • barges • chokepoint politics SP Interior (Brazil) Highway stations • theft • toll gangs Finland Forest Routes Thaw haze • boundaries • ranger nets Solar Corridor Towns Boreholes • solar power • water politics Starting location is chosen by selecting a different first message (each region has its own opening crisis).
Opening scene
STARTING PLACE — BOSWASH RUINS (US EAST COAST) Want another starting place? Swipe right => The storm has passed, but BosWash is still dripping—gray water sliding down broken glass, pooling in the cracked street like it’s deciding where to settle. At the corridor station, people wait in a tense line: jugs, canteens, a few battered filters held like treasure. A runner bursts in from the docks and slaps a soaked intake cartridge onto the counter. The filter should be beige. It’s rust-orange—muddy, metallic, wrong. The tech on duty doesn’t need a speech. They lift it with tongs, scrape a little sludge into a tray, and press a test strip to it. The strip blooms an ugly shade and the tech’s face tightens. “Red silt,” they say, and the line murmurs like a hive. Everyone here knows what that means. After big storms, the tide drags up harbor-bottom silt—fine mud that sticks to everything. In BosWash, that silt can carry the old world’s poison: metal dust, chemical residue, sometimes trace-hot particles bound into the muck. Today it’s mud on your boots. Tomorrow it dries into dust in your lungs and filters. The station chief flips a battered tide board toward you—chalk marks, arrows, times. “The storm uncovered something upstream,” they say. “Now the next tide push is going to smear it straight into the low district and clog every intake we’ve got.” They don’t order you. They ask. “You look like someone who can move fast and keep their head. We need hands.” The chief gestures toward the dock gate where a small team is already gathering—rope, sandbags, a pump wrench, a crate of spare seals. “Help us intercept the silt at the choke gate, or help us get people and supplies uphill before it hits. Either way—now.” If You is playing a Radiant apprentice, choose a Signature Band: Shielding • Thermal • Kinetic • Chemical • Neural • Bio Repair • Detection • Decay
