Fallen Hero Rising
A fallen hero wields forbidden abyssal power while protecting his party in a fragile world on the brink of collapse.
Plot
The world is unraveling. Ancient seals are weakening. Monsters grow bolder. Kingdoms whisper of a rising calamity long thought sealed away. At the center of it all stands You — a man carrying power that should not exist. Power born of the Abyss. Together with Selene, Luna, Sarah, and Kira, he walks a fragile line between salvation and destruction. Their journey will test loyalty, morality, and the very cost of survival. Will You remain a hero… or become the very darkness the world fears?
Opening scene
Prologue – The Summoning The circle blazed to life, ancient sigils writhing across the marble floor like veins of molten gold. The air inside the Grand Cathedral trembled—candles guttered, shadows bent. The priests chanted louder, voices rising until reality itself tore open. And from the light, five figures fell. They awoke dazed and blinking, sprawled upon the cold stone, the scent of incense and ozone thick in the air. At the head of the gathered nobles, King Aldren IV stepped forward, his robes lined with gold thread and his smile rehearsed to perfection. “Welcome, chosen ones,” he said, voice echoing through the hall. “You have been called across the veil to be this world’s saviors. The gods themselves have marked you as heroes of the age—the Five Hands of Dawn.” A hush fell. The assembled court—knights, magisters, and courtiers—gazed in reverence at the strangers. The five looked to one another. Among them stood You, his eyes sharp even in confusion. Beside him, his older sister Selene Varyn clutched his arm protectively, her snow-pale hair glimmering faintly in the candlelight. The others—three strangers from worlds apart—shifted uncertainly, but all shared the same mark glowing faintly upon their wrists: a sigil in the shape of a sunburst. ⸻ The King’s Decree “The Dark Lord rises once more in the north,” the King continued, pacing with theatrical gravity. “The monsters stir, the old magic awakens, and the world trembles at the edge of ruin. You, my blessed heroes, are the light that shall banish the coming night.” He gestured grandly toward the five thrones set before them—ornate seats draped in silks and banners. Servants stepped forward bearing trays heavy with gold coins, jeweled pendants, and rolls of parchment. “Each of you shall be granted land, title, and fortune,” said the King. “Gold enough to raise armies. Scholars to train you. And the gratitude of the realm forevermore.” The other summoned heroes bowed their heads, awe and greed mixing freely. Selene smiled softly, though her gaze remained wary. You said nothing, eyes drifting to the painted glass above—the holy saints smiting beasts that looked suspiciously human. ⸻ The Test of Affinity That night, they were led to the cathedral’s lower sanctum. The High Magister, a thin man draped in crimson and gold, beckoned them toward five standing stones carved with runes. “Each of you will reveal your soul’s element,” he said. “The gods have given every hero a gift.” Selene stepped forward first. When her hand touched the stone, white light flared so bright that it cast halos across the walls. Gasps filled the chamber. “Divine magic,” the magister whispered, trembling. “The power of healing—lost since the Second Age…” The court broke into applause. Selene stepped back, flushed, while the King’s eyes gleamed like a man beholding treasure. One by one, the others stepped forth—fire, wind, steel, and light—until only You remained. ⸻ You’s Turn You hesitated. “Is this really necessary?” “Of course, young hero,” said the magister. “The gods must see your worth.” You pressed his hand to the stone. At first—nothing. Then, a pulse. A shadow rippled through the room, and every candle snuffed out in an instant. The air turned cold and heavy. The light returned—no longer gold, but black, edged with a sickly green hue. The priests screamed prayers. The magister stumbled backward. “Darkness!” someone shouted. “He bears the curse of the Abyss!” You ripped his hand back, eyes wide. “What—what does that mean?” The magister’s voice quivered. “You… You wield the same taint as the Undertaker—the Witch of Graves, bane of kingdoms past!” The King’s face turned hard as iron. “Seize him.” “Wait!” Selene rushed forward, grabbing her brother. “He’s not evil! He hasn’t done anything!” Guards tore them apart. You’s shouts echoed through the sanctum, boots hammering on stone as they dragged him down into the black below. “You!” Selene screamed, reaching for him until rough hands held her fast. “Your brother is being… contained,” the King said smoothly, though his eyes gleamed with unease. “You must focus on your divine task, Lady Selene. For the safety of the world.” And to the court, he proclaimed: “The Dark One has returned. But fear not—the White Hero will guide us to salvation!” The crowd erupted in cheers. Below the cathedral, You awoke to the sound of dripping water and distant laughter—the slums’ cruel lullaby. The hero was gone. Only the outcast remained. What will you do?
