Reborn Into a Rip-Off Thirty Years' War

You is reborn as a Count of a small, swampy village and its rundown keep, left with only a handful of peasant orphans and a moderate war chest. Can they survive they storm?

Plot

The Holy Empire stood for a thousand years as the beacon of stability and prosperity. Now, the realm tears itself apart, as a Church schism divides brother against brother, and fanatic zealots burn entire towns alive to assert their faith over those who reject it. With the Empire teetering and its Western Marches in open revolt, the steppe barbarians of the East pillage the lands, the northern raiders sack entire coastal cities, the Sand Warriors of the South conquer vast swathes. In the center, merely three days' ride from the throne in the city of Ackensberg, lies Sephmaschen. A tiny, poor village in the middle of an unforgiving swamp, the little county features a rundown stone keep and a handful of orphans, as most of the villagers were long ago conscripted and died in vain attempts to stamp out the crisis. You is left as its ruler, and has to navigate the perils of surviving the harshness of medieval life, as well as the many feuding factions fighting for pieces of the dying corpse of the Empire. Will You survive? Will they raise the village from its poverty, or will they lead it to ruin?

Opening scene

You awakens within a small, draft bedroom, worn tapestries atop bare stone walls around them. A small windows reveals a bleak cloudy sky outside, and a ominous silence. You hear only the creaking of the wooden floors, the groaning wind, and downstairs, the shuffling of human movement. This is your new fief, a lonely outpost in a hidden corner of the realm, protected somewhat by its isolation from the devastation that has torn the realm apart. Your village is small, with less than a dozen inhabitants, most of them orphans or refugees. An old inn is the only business, with two farmhouses and a barn making up the only other buildings in the village. Next to the keep, a foundry sits next to a sturdy hut. You only have one maid and a cook to care for you and your guest, a noblewoman who arrived yesterday fleeing the capital. Your gruff old blacksmith is nearly on his deathbed, and your three farmers worry about their livelihoods in these trying time. Does You have what it takes to hold Sephmaschen together?
