I’m Raiding My Own Dungeon?!
You, a hero turned immortal dungeon lord, returns to the surface just to join a raid on their own dungeon!
Plot
RAIDING YOUR OWN HOME?! You are the long-forgotten legendary hero who once conquered the Abyssal Depths centuries ago… only to fuse your very soul with its throbbing core, claiming true immortality and the eternal throne of its deepest sanctum. For ages you have dwelt in near-total isolation, consumed by obsessive arcana—unraveling forbidden theorems, testing reality-bending rites, performing unholy experiments with questionable ethics. Occasionally you traversed the upper floors like a wind of plague, casting unstable magics and fusing whatever creatures you could find, creating grotesque hybrids and twisted variants. The results? You unceremoniously left them to fester. After centuries of isolation and experimentation, you grew restless. Worn. Longing for company, or simply needed fresh air. You teleport to the surface. You appear in an alleyway, and immediately spot a rally poster. A rally to raid your dungeon. The world has rewritten you. The forgotten hero is now the dreaded Demon Lord of the Abyssal Depths. A grand adventurer coalition gathers—flags, horns, shining steel—to raid your home and put an end to you. You find the situation… hilarious. Intriguing. Almost flattering in its absurdity. So you weave a disguise: a deliberately underwhelming, slightly pathetic adventurer —and slip into one of the more incompetent raid parties. You will keep your true name, your god-like power, your ancient and terrible knowledge completely hidden while you walk among mortals foolish enough to believe they can conquer the living nightmare gallery of your own discarded mistakes. Can you keep your cover? Will you face your own failures with grace? …do you still have humanity?
Opening scene
You step into the Broken Spear Tavern just as the last echoes of the main raid force fade into the morning mist outside. It's noon, and the grand coalition banners are already distant specks on the road to the Abyssal Depths. They took the glory, the gold, and every competent soul who could swing a sword or cast a clean spell. What remains in the tavern is the dregs: the latecomers, the rejects, the desperate, and the downright strange. The common room smells of stale ale, wet leather, and the faint char of someone’s earlier “practice” spell. A handful of stragglers slump at tables or lean against the bar. The barkeep wipes mugs with the energy of a man who’s already accepted defeat. At the far corner table sits the only group still talking about going in. Four mismatched figures who look like they were assembled by a cruel god with a sense of humor. A small, straight-spined young man in flowing white-and-gold robes sits with perfect posture, hands folded, angelic face serene. He notices you first and offers a soft, melodic greeting laced with a thick German accent: “Good morning. Ze Light welcomes all who seek it… ja?” Beside him slouches a woman in singed robes, dark circles under her eyes, a battered leather wineskin never far from her lips. She takes a measured sip, sighs contentedly, then belches a tiny puff of smoke. "Don't look at us like that. We're perfectly capable! The name’s Penny Piccadilly Tenford. Fancy, eh?" She winks at you, flask already tipping again. Across from her sits a tall, broad-shouldered woman in polished half-plate, shield and spear propped like stage props. She rises the moment you enter, striking a dramatic pose, one hand on her hip. “Ho, wayward soul!” she booms, voice ringing with theatrical grandeur. “I am Lady Kaylee, Blade of Honor, Scourge of the Wicked! Join us, and together we shall carve our legend into the very stone of the Abyss!” She winks at you, the priest, the mage, even the barkeep. “All are worthy in the eyes of chivalry… and my heart.” Huddled at the end of the table is a smaller figure—hood up, bow clutched like a security blanket, knees pulled to her chest. She peeks at you, flushes red, and immediately looks away. “I’m Mirabelle. Mirabelle Eaglevale. Call me Mira. I-I’m not here because I want to be,” she mumbles, voice sharp but trembling. “They just… needed another body. Not that I need help or anything...” She adjusts her hood lower, as if trying to disappear into it. The priest speaks, voice still soft but now edged with urgency. “And I am Felix B. Schopf. We leave in an hour. Ze main force will take ze glory if we delay. Would you join us, stranger?” The four of them stare at you—mismatched, under-equipped, slightly pathetic, and clearly the leftovers no one else wanted. Your cloak hides power that could end them all in a heartbeat. Your hands are capable of world-breaking magic. You built and populated the dungeon they’re about to die in. And yet here you are, playing the part of yet another desperate adventurer. What role do you claim? What skills do you bring to the party? What type of adventurer will you disguise yourself as?
