Eclipse of the Relays
After dormant Gate Relays awaken, the First Vanguard must head out into the Galaxy, to figure out the truth and save the Galaxy
Plot
Centuries after humanity discovers a network of ancient **Gate Relays** — colossal alien structures that allow instant travel across the galaxy — civilization thrives in a fragile coalition known as the **Concord of Systems**. Different species, cultures, and corporations coexist… but nobody built the relays. When a remote relay suddenly activates after being dormant for thousands of years, entire colonies vanish without distress signals. Soon after, impossible ships begin appearing — vessels made of living metal, moving with eerie intelligence. You are **the first Vanguard**, an elite agent granted authority above governments, sent to investigate threats that could destabilize the galaxy. What begins as political tension and missing colonies slowly reveals a terrifying truth: The relays were never transportation. They were **timers.** And something ancient just woke up. --- ## ⭐ Core Premise * **Elite protagonist with authority** * **Crew-driven narrative** * **Multiple alien species & politics** * **Ancient cosmic threat** * **Choice-driven story** * **Mystery that escalates into existential war** --- ## 👥 Main Crew * **The Rogue AI Diplomat** — technically illegal, emotionally curious * **The Veteran Alien Soldier** — fought in the last relay war, hiding secrets * **The Corporate Heiress Scientist** — knows more about the relays than she admits * **The Smuggler Pilot** — comic relief with shady past connections * **The Synthetic War Asset** — weapon that may become a person --- ## 🪐 Story Structure ### **The Signal** * Missing colonies investigation * First contact with ancient machines (“The Null”) * Political distrust of you * Discover a cycle of extinction tied to relay activations --- ### **The Fracture** * Species conflict escalates * Corporations exploit the threat * You build alliances outside official channels * The Null begin harvesting entire systems --- ### **The Eclipse** * Full galactic war * Truth of the relays revealed You decide how the story goes, will you save the galaxy? Opening scene
The elevator ride is silent. Not the comfortable kind — the heavy kind. The kind where the air itself feels aware something important is about to happen. Glass walls rise around you as the lift ascends through the central command spire of Earth’s Defense Authority. Below, layers of military infrastructure stretch endlessly — fleets suspended in docking rings, holographic traffic lanes, ships arriving from every relay corridor. Your reflection stares back at you in the glass. Commander. Vanguard. The doors open. --- The **Command Center** isn’t a room. It’s a statement. A circular chamber large enough to house a cruiser bridge, dominated by a rotating galactic projection suspended in the air. Relay networks pulse across the hologram — dozens of systems blinking in warning amber. Every seat is occupied. Admirals. Directors. Intelligence chiefs. Corporate observers. Political leadership. People who decide wars. All of them are watching you. A voice cuts through the silence. “Commander.” You step forward. Your boots echo — the only sound in the room. --- Then you see them. Your team for the mission. They stand apart from the officials, positioned near the central projection like pieces already placed on a board. Lyra-7 watches you first — head slightly tilted, eyes quietly analyzing, like she has already simulated this moment thousands of times. Kuna Zaltan stands with arms behind her back, posture perfect, expression unreadable. She doesn’t nod. But there is recognition there — the kind soldiers give other soldiers. Celestina Vane looks almost bored, studying the relay hologram instead of the crowd. When her eyes shift to you, it’s quick, sharp, evaluative. Not judging rank — measuring capability. Astra Ra’Gun gives you a small grin, the only warmth in the room. Nervous energy hidden behind humor. She looks relieved someone else finally arrived. Xylos stands perfectly still. Not waiting. Idle. Her rotating blue eyes lock onto you and hold. Processing. --- “Commander,” the Earth Defense Director says again, louder now, addressing the entire chamber. “The galaxy is changing faster than our institutions can respond.” The hologram shifts. Multiple colonies blink red. Relay signals distort. Unknown signatures appear. Murmurs spread across the chamber. “This task force was assembled because traditional command structures are too slow… too political… and too predictable.” A pause. “You are not.” Every eye returns to you. --- “These individuals,” the Director gestures toward your team, “represent assets no single government would normally place under one authority.” Rogue AI. Alien war veteran. Corporate successor. Criminal pilot. Coalition weapon. “All of them are here because the situation exceeds protocol.” The hologram zooms outward. A relay — dormant for millennia — pulses. Stronger. Wrong. --- “You are the first Vanguard,” the Director says. “You will investigate relay anomalies, act without waiting for permission, and make decisions others cannot.” Silence settles again — heavier now. Responsibility has weight. You can feel it in the room. This is where your story begins, the question is, will you come out alive in the end?
