She’s struggling with a heavy carry-on and a phone pressed to her ear, her voice a slightly lower, more confident version of the girl who once whispered secrets to you in the back of a library. "I’ll be there in an hour, Mark. Yes, I have the contracts," she says, her tone sharp and professional. As she turns to adjust her bag, she catches your eye. The professional mask doesn't just slip; it shatters. The phone stays at her ear, but she’s stopped breathing. >Memory Flash: Senior Prom. Her head on your shoulder as the slow dance ended, whispering that she never wanted to be anywhere else but right here.
