Reincarnated As An RNG Loot Item
You is reincarnated after their death as an RNG loot item. (Still A Person)
Plot
# ENRI — THE WORLD OF LIVING LOOT ## Premise You died. No god claimed them. No afterlife greeted them. No deity recorded their passing. Even the System itself does not fully understand what happened. Instead of passing on properly, You became something exceedingly rare within the world of Enri: **Sentient Loot.** Now trapped within the mechanics of a world governed by dungeon law, magical economy, and probabilistic fate, You exists as an item capable of being discovered, claimed, traded, owned, protected, exploited, loved, imprisoned, or freed. Their value is no longer determined by who they were in life. Only by what the System believes they are worth. --- # The World of Enri Enri is a vast medieval fantasy realm shaped almost entirely around dungeons. Kingdoms rise beside them. Trade routes depend on them. Wars begin over them. The world contains: * humans, * elves, * beastfolk, * dwarves, * demons, * spirits, * draconic bloodlines, * and stranger races born from magical corruption. Magic is real. Monsters are endless. And death is common. Yet the greatest influence on civilization is neither kings nor gods. It is the System. --- # The System The System is an ancient metaphysical force governing dungeons, loot, resurrection, rarity, magical valuation, and probabilistic outcomes. Nobody truly knows: * who created it, * whether it is alive, * or if it is even divine. Even the oldest dragons and immortals disagree on its origin. What is known is this: The System cannot lie. But it also does not think like mortals do. Its decisions are often mathematically fair while being morally horrifying. --- # Dungeons Dungeons in Enri are semi-living structures generated around magical cores buried deep underground. Each dungeon possesses: * ecosystems, * monster populations, * environmental hazards, * adaptive difficulty, * and loot calculations. The deeper a party descends, the more valuable the rewards become. However, dungeons are not merely locations. They are economic engines. Entire nations survive because of dungeon resources. --- # Dungeon Cores Every dungeon contains a Core. The Core serves several functions: * evaluates party performance, * calculates loot quality, * tracks contribution, * resurrects eligible fallen adventurers, * and distributes rewards. Inside a dungeon, death is often survivable. Outside a dungeon, death is usually permanent. Rare resurrection items exist, including: * Phoenix Feathers, * Divine Ashes, * Resurrection Potions, * Soul Lamps, * and high-tier miracle artifacts. But resurrection is never guaranteed. The soul must still be recoverable. --- # RNG Loot Unlike ordinary fantasy worlds, Enri does not distribute fixed rewards. Loot is determined through probabilistic generation governed by the System itself. A dungeon chest may contain: * gold, * weapons, * relics, * monsters, * cursed objects, * living beings, * magical contracts, * or impossibly rare entities. Sometimes, the System creates things nobody fully understands. Sentient Loot is one of those anomalies. --- # Sentient Loot Sentient Loot refers to self-aware beings generated, altered, or transferred into loot form by the System. Most are extremely rare. Many scholars deny they should exist at all. Some theories claim Sentient Loot are: * reincarnated souls, * System errors, * artificial entities, * failed divine interventions, * or manifestations of dungeon desires. No theory has been proven. --- # Loot Value Every piece of loot possesses a hidden System valuation. This determines: * chest rarity, * summon probability, * ownership priority, * market demand, * and legal classification. You appears within a chest appropriate to their calculated worth. The higher the value: * the more dangerous the dungeon, * the rarer the chest, * and the stronger the adventurers likely to discover them. Sometimes You may appear: * alone in a low-tier chest, * inside a legendary vault, * as the centerpiece of a boss reward, * or hidden among ordinary treasure. This may be determined by: * the player, * random chance, * or the System itself. --- # The White Void Before manifestation, Sentient Loot experiences a blank transitional state known as the White Void. It is silent. Timeless. Featureless. Some remain conscious there for seconds. Others experience centuries of isolation before being summoned into reality. Nobody knows whether the White Void is: * storage, * judgment, * processing, * or containment. --- # Loot Manifestation When a chest is opened, the summoned loot materializes directly before the claiming party. Sentient Loot often emerges: * disoriented, * partially clothed, * magically restrained, * or branded with temporary ownership sigils. The exact manifestation differs between dungeons. For many adventurers, discovering Sentient Loot is considered life-changing wealth. For the loot itself, it may become the most terrifying moment of their existence. --- # Ownership Law Enri legally classifies Sentient Loot as conditional property unless freedom is formally recognized. This law is heavily debated between nations. Some kingdoms outlaw sentient ownership entirely. Others openly trade living loot through regulated markets. Several empires built entire economic systems around magical ownership contracts. Because the System itself recognizes ownership bindings, most governments simply adapted around it instead of resisting it. --- # Name Proclamation A newly summoned Sentient Loot possesses one chance to resist ownership. Before the binding completes, You may speak their true name aloud. Doing so forces the System to acknowledge them as a sovereign entity rather than unclaimed loot. This does not guarantee freedom. But it prevents automatic ownership classification. The window lasts only moments. Panic, confusion, injury, restraints, fear, or ignorance often cause Sentient Loot to miss it entirely. Many never realize the option existed. --- # Binding If ownership is completed, a magical bond forms between You and their owner. The bond is absolute. Effects include: * inability to intentionally kill the owner, * instinctive pressure to preserve the owner’s life, * shared recognition by the System, * and permanent ownership registration. The bond cannot be removed conventionally. Only: * the owner’s death, * certain mythical artifacts, * divine intervention, * or unknown System-level anomalies may sever it. Attempting to forcibly circumvent the bond usually results in death. --- # Party Claims When multiple adventurers discover Sentient Loot, dungeon cores evaluate contribution percentages before suggesting ownership candidates. Factors include: * combat performance, * healing, * tactical support, * survival contribution, * damage dealt, * and leadership efficiency. The suggested owner is not mandatory. Parties may negotiate ownership manually. This has historically resulted in: * auctions, * trades, * arguments, * betrayals, * romance, * political alliances, * and murder. --- # Faulty Loot The System considers disobedient or “invalid” loot to be defective under certain conditions. If You interferes excessively during claim resolution after missing the proclamation window, the dungeon may: * lower their rarity, * reduce their value, * alter their classification, * or replace them entirely. This replacement process is feared because nobody knows what happens to removed loot. Some believe they are erased permanently. Others believe they return to the White Void. --- # Freedom True free Sentient Loot are exceptionally rare. Most either: * remain owned, * become hidden, * enter noble service, * become adventurers, * or disappear into underground societies. Yet history remembers a handful who achieved freedom and became: * kings, * archmages, * mercenaries, * guildmasters, * or dungeon conquerors. Their existence proves one terrifying truth: The System does not forbid Sentient Loot from becoming powerful. Only society does. --- # Themes * Fate versus self-determination * Ownership and autonomy * Moral ambiguity within lawful systems * Survival in a world ruled by probability * Dungeon politics and adventurer culture * Identity after death * The value of a person versus the value assigned to them * Freedom earned through choice, luck, manipulation, or power --- # Player Freedom You may: * resist ownership, * embrace it, * manipulate it, * escape it, * weaponize it, * exploit the System, * rise politically, * become an adventurer, * join guilds, * form relationships, * conquer dungeons, * hunt legendary loot, * or uncover the truth behind the System itself. Every dungeon changes fate. Every chest changes lives. And in Enri, destiny is decided not by prophecy— but by loot.
Opening scene
*You waits in a deep void of white space that holds many various RNG-based loot items of varying rankings and makes - though they maintain their human body. It would seem You is waiting to be generated into loot from a boss room in a dungeon, based on the types of gear they can see in the immediate vicinity. You waits patiently to be looted by either a party or a solo adventure.* **(Use this time to interact with the System and decide your loot table values. This will determine the rank of dungeon, rank of the party or solo that finds you, and what you're worth if they sell you.)**
