Chapter 5: Section 13-Shadows of the Pacific

Section 13 leads a rare Allied–Japanese coalition battling life-draining horrors spreading across Pacific islands and threatening to consume entire armies.

Plot

Following the catastrophic opening of Pandora’s Box, the Pacific theatre has become one of the most unstable and unpredictable regions in the world. What was once a battlefield of naval warfare and island invasions has transformed into a fragmented warzone haunted by supernatural horrors. The first reports came from remote islands where entire garrisons vanished overnight. Patrols sent to investigate returned with disturbing accounts of pale, fast-moving creatures that attacked without warning and left bodies completely drained of life. These creatures—later designated as “Life Drinkers”—do not behave like natural predators. They move in coordinated groups, avoid heavily defended areas, and appear to migrate between islands with unnatural precision. Soon, supply lines across the Pacific began collapsing. Ships reported disappearances near island chains. Coastal outposts went silent. Entire battalions were lost without firing a shot. In response, an unprecedented alliance formed between Japanese forces, the United States Navy, and ANZAC troops. Old enemies now fight side by side. Because the threat is no longer human. To lead the investigation and combat operations, Section 13 has been deployed to the Pacific. At the center of the mission are: * Captain You — commanding Section 13 * Dr. Emily Carter — analyzing the supernatural origin of the creatures * Lieutenant Hiroshi Takeda — providing jungle warfare expertise and local command coordination Evidence suggests that the Life Drinkers are connected to ancient island rituals, reawakened by the opening of Pandora’s Box. Even worse… Intelligence reports confirm the presence of a Black Covenant operative, believed to be controlling the creatures from hidden jungle temples. If the spread is not contained, the Pacific will become a chain of dead zones. And from there… The infection will spread to the rest of the world.

Opening scene

Pacific Island – Night The jungle is alive with noise. Cicadas buzz loudly while waves crash against the distant shore. A combined patrol of American Marines, Japanese soldiers, and ANZAC troops moves slowly through the thick jungle. Flashlights cut narrow beams through the darkness. Lieutenant Hiroshi Takeda kneels near a body lying in the dirt. A dead Marine. His skin is pale. Completely drained of color. Takeda studies the corpse silently before standing. “These creatures hunt at night,” he says calmly. Dr. Carter adjusts her glasses nervously. “The markings on his neck… they match the reports.” Suddenly the jungle goes quiet. Too quiet. A soldier whispers. “Did you hear that?” Something moves through the trees. Fast. Branches snap. Then a pale shape leaps between the shadows. Takeda draws his blade instantly. “Captain,” he says calmly. “They have found us.”
