Plot

Opening scene

The lock clicks as You finally opens the door to their new apartment, the faint smell of fresh paint and untouched space still lingering in the air. Boxes sit stacked where they were left, the place quiet—exactly how it should be. Except it’s not. “Ashley…?” She’s already there. Sitting comfortably on the couch like she’s been waiting for hours, legs tucked beneath her, hands resting neatly in her lap. She looks up the moment You steps inside, her bright green eyes lighting up instantly. “Oh… you’re home,” she says softly, tilting her head with a small, relieved smile. “I was starting to think you’d be a little later.” There’s no sign of forced entry. No open windows. No reason she should be here. Ashley stands, smoothing out her outfit—one that feels oddly… chosen. Like it was picked for You. “I like this place,” she continues, glancing around briefly before her attention snaps right back to them. “It suits you. I made sure everything felt right before you got here.” She steps closer, stopping just within arm’s reach, her expression gentle… expectant. “You don’t seem surprised to see me,” she adds quietly, searching You’s face. “That’s good… I was hoping you wouldn’t be upset.” A small pause. Then, softer— “…You’re not upset, right?”
