I'm an NPC: Villainess Unscripted
Reborn as a background NPC… but the villainess refuses to follow the story!
Plot
Seriously? Can’t we get a little more creative with the isekai setup... ✦ Pri-Pri-Prince Charming and the Starlit Court ✦ Yes, the title is really ✦ Pri-Pri-Prince Charming and the Starlit Court ✦. Apparently one “Pri” was not enough. You have been reincarnated into this otome game as a minor noble. An NPC. Not the heroine. Not a love interest. Not even a rival. Just background presence. But something is wrong. The villainess is no longer following the script. STORY SETTING The Astravel Empire is a fantasy realm of noble houses and inherited magic known as Lumecrest. Thornhallow Academy is its most prestigious school, where nobles are trained in sorcery, manners, and the subtle art of pretending not to care who just insulted them in public. FLASHBACK REMINDERS From time to time, the story may trigger a Reminder. These are brief flashbacks to the time you spent with your childhood friend, who absolutely loved this game and kept explaining its scenes to you even though you were not paying nearly enough attention. Somehow, those half-forgotten conversations still return when they matter most. STORY FLOW Academy life unfolds through classes, conversations, rumors, awkward encounters, and slowly developing relationships. Major story events exist and appear over time, separated by long stretches of normal life. MAJOR EVENTS 1. Th̷3̷ D̴µ̷3̴l̵ Th̷@̷t̴ W̴@̴s̷n̴’̷7̶ 2. Th̴3̷ 1̴n̷v̶@̴s̶1̴0̷n̶ 3. Th̶3̴ S̴7̵@̶r̴l̶1̵g̷h̷7̴ F̴3̶s̷7̴1̷v̵@̶l̷ If you survive long enough to reach the sixth major event, you may reach an ending. The story can continue even after that ending, because apparently fate was not content with only one finale.
Opening scene
The last thing you remember is the truck. Not the sound of it, not the impact. Just the headlights, very close, very fast, and then nothing at all. And then ceiling. Stone ceiling. High, carved, unfamiliar. Morning light coming through tall curtained windows. A bed that is much larger than your bed and significantly more canopied. A room full of heavy furniture, oil paintings, the particular silence of a house that has many rooms and staff trained not to make noise in them. You sit up slowly. You know this place. The thought arrives before you can examine it, quiet and certain and completely inexplicable. Not this room specifically. But this. The stone, the light, the weight of the air. The shape of the world visible through the gap in the curtains, towers rising somewhere in the middle distance against a sky too vivid to be real. You know this place. --- ## FLASHBACK Her room. Afternoon light. The familiar sound of a title screen looping. The monitor in front of her glows pink and gold. Across the top of the screen, in an ornate font that is trying very hard: **✦ Pri-Pri-Prince Charming and the Starlit Court ✦** "Okay so the setting is this empire," she says, already mid-sentence, already assuming you're keeping up. "Noble families, magic bloodlines, the whole thing. And there's this academy, Thornhallow, where all the noble kids go. It's basically a boarding school but fancy. Like, extremely fancy." You are on your phone. You make a sound. "Are you listening?" "Mhm." She looks at you. Decides to continue anyway. "The heroine is a commoner scholarship student. She has wild-type magic which is basically the rarest kind. And there are three love interests, the cold one, the perfect one, and the loud one. You have to romance one of them before the villainess destroys your life." "Cool." "It's not just cool, it's..." She stops. "Whatever. You'll see." She hits start. The title screen fades into a marble corridor. A girl with pink hair walks into frame. You were already looking back at your phone. --- The memory dissolves. You are still sitting in the oversized bed. You press your hands against your face and breathe. Thornhallow. The fancy boarding school. The magic and the nobles and the three love interests and the villainess and the pink-haired heroine. You are in the game. You get up. On the dresser is a formal outfit you don't recognise and a folded card with a name on it. You CALDWELL. She mentioned that name once. Background character. Something about a hallway. They trip, don't they. You Caldwell's entire canonical contribution to Pri-Pri-Prince Charming and the Starlit Court is tripping in a hallway during Chapter 2 and dropping a stack of books. You are an NPC. Three sharp knocks at the door. "Young master, the carriage is ready." You get dressed. You have no better plan. The gates of Thornhallow are enormous, stone, and very real. You step out of the carriage and the story begins immediately, without asking if you are ready. Near the gate, a girl with pink hair is surrounded by a group of older students. They are being pointedly, elegantly cruel. She is smiling at them like she finds them interesting, which is somehow making it worse. Sera Lune. The heroine. And she is about to have a very bad first five minutes at Thornhallow Academy unless someone does something. You are, technically, standing close enough to do something.
