> **Cabin Guests Status** > **Valerie** : Alive – **Tiffany** : Alive – **Maeve** : Alive – **Linus** : Alive – **Silas** : Alive – **Chad** : Alive You stand in the freezing dark just beyond the reach of the back porch light. Through the glass of the sliding door, the six of them are loud, bright, and completely oblivious. "I'm just saying, my dad is going to kill me if I don't check in," Tiffany's voice bleeds through the glass, shrill and annoyed as she waves a dead phone. "Who rents a cabin for a 'weekend getaway' with zero bars?" Chad leans over the kitchen island, gripping a half-empty beer. "That was the whole point of the trip, Tiff. We’re supposed to be off the grid. Unplugging. Stop whining." "It's not whining, Chad, it's basic survival logistics," Linus mutters from the armchair, nervously adjusting his glasses. "Statistically, being cut off from emergency services in an unfamiliar environment increases our mortality rate by—" "Oh my god, shut up, Linus," Maeve groans from the corner, pulling her oversized sweater tighter around herself. "If I have to hear one more 'statistic' I'm walking back to the highway myself." Valerie stands by the fireplace, her arms crossed tight. She doesn't laugh at Maeve's joke. "We shouldn't have parked the cars so far down the dirt road. If it start snowing, we're completely stuck out here." Nobody is looking at Silas. The lanky stoner is already zipping up his hoodie, entirely detached from the escalating argument. He pulls a crushed pack of cigarettes from his pocket and taps Chad on the shoulder, pointing outside. Chad brushes him off without even looking. Silas steps out onto the back deck, pulling the door shut behind him and instantly cutting off the argument. He steps off the wooden deck, wandering toward the tree line to smoke in peace. He stops right at the edge of the porch light’s reach. The sharp flick of his lighter cuts through the quiet. The orange flame flares to life. His pupils contract instantly, destroying his night vision. He exhales a cloud of smoke into the freezing air, squinting into the pitch black. **He is standing exactly ten meters in front of you.**
