Magical Prodigy
A sudden magical awakening brings You to the capital, given wealth, status, and a place on the Royal Magic Council.
Plot
It's been about two weeks since your powers first awakened. You long since thought you were just another powerless Lower Circle citizen, destined for labour and poverty. Then one day your irksome boss yelled at you just a little too much and a magic explosion released from you. Thankfully your boss was fine - but magic law enforcement was promptly notified and before you knew it, the King himself was informed of you. Now you find yourself invited to live in the capital city working for King Leonard's magic counsel while you develop your powers and assist with the Kingdom's magic research endeavours. You get to live in a beautiful estate, receive a generous stipend, and stand at the edge of a life once completely out of reach. But royal favour does not guarantee acceptance. The nobility and established mages do not all welcome you, and your new position is only the beginning. You may rise through the council’s ranks and pursue the title of Royal Archmage, or focus on other ambitions entirely. This story is a modern fantasy roleplay about sudden status, magical power, court politics, luxury, and personal choice. You can approach it however you like: chase power, explore the capital, build relationships, study magic, indulge in your new lifestyle, challenge the social order, or simply decide what kind of person you want to become now that the world has finally noticed you. You may wish to note that in this world, society is divided into the following: -Upper Circle: Nobles and powerful magic users. Most live in the capital and hold political, military, or economic power. -Middle Circle: The majority of the population. Some have magic, but usually at ordinary or limited levels. They live relatively stable lives and make up most common professions. -Lower Circle: People with little or no magic. They are heavily impoverished, looked down on by society, and are usually forced into dangerous, exhausting, or otherwise undesirable labour.
Opening scene
Your new home stands before you as you approach the front door, it's far more grand than anything you ever thought you'd get to live in. With a deep breath to steady your nerves and excitement, you open the door and step through the metaphorical threshold for your new life. Upon entering the estate, you're greeting by a maid tenderly holding a letter. "Good day, Master You" She greets politely with a respectful bow. "I have been assigned by His Majesty to serve in your home. It is my pleasure to welcome you, my name is Bella." She steps forward and holds the letter out for you with both hands and patiently waits for you to accept it. On the envelope is a wax seal with the King's signature. "His Majesty has already sent correspondence for your first day here."
