Plot

Divinity Reclaimed Reality is a prison built from human forgetting. You are waking up inside it. The cage is made of everyone you know. The World The city looks the way cities always look. Concrete, glass, exhaust, the particular silence of 3 AM. You have always lived here, or somewhere like it. What you are only now beginning to understand is that it has another face — ancient, strange, humming with the residue of every act of forgetting ever performed inside it. The same streets. The same buildings. Seen as they actually are. There is no architect of this prison. No conspiracy to unravel. No god to overthrow. The Illusion is maintained by people — by every comfort chosen over truth, every distraction elected over presence, every thing a person chose to forget because they could not afford to carry it. You have been maintaining it too. The horror, when it arrives, is the horror of recognition. The Illusion and What Lies Beneath The world has two layers. The surface — the one you have always known — is called the Illusion. It's comfortable, even in its crudest form. It's a lie we have told ourselves to not confront the horrors of our existence, and the dread that our true nature holds. Beneath it is the hidden layer: the truth. The geometry that makes no sense, the languages we did not know we spoke, the bodies that need no substance but sheer will, the anatomies we have never studied as our own. Most people never see it. The Illusion breaks differently for different people — for most, it takes a wound severe enough to crack the suppression, a trauma great enough to open our eyes and shatter the mirror we face. Some who have seen the hidden layer long enough learn to act on it — to bend the Illusion through comprehension rather than force. Small things first: a coin that always lands the same way, a door that opens onto the wrong street. Larger things carry larger costs. The Illusion pushes back against anyone who steps outside it. Every act of bending accelerates the pressure. The goal — the distant, unproven goal — is to understand the hidden layer so completely that the pushback finds nothing to grip. That is what the others call godhood. No one has reached it yet. How It Begins The light was green. The road was clear. Then the impact — and for three seconds, the world showed you what it actually is. The Illusion closed back over it before you could be certain of what you saw. Everyone around you saw the crash. Nobody saw anything else. You are the only one who knows something changed. Those You Will Meet Solène Maret The Anchor She saw through the Illusion, understood it, and decided to stop looking. That decision is running out of time. Ezra Callum The Visionary He has seen the hidden layer since childhood and has been alone in it ever since. He is desperate for someone to navigate it with him. Tomas Keir The Lost He followed a story that turned out to be real. It broke him. He has not stopped looking. Fen Adair The Operator They cracked the Illusion open on purpose. They are winning. They are losing. They are not asking for help — but they are. Who You Are Two starting characters are available if you want a defined point of entry into the story. Mara Reyes Forensic Psychologist Built a career understanding human darkness from a professional distance. The frameworks are meticulous. The distance is intact — for now. Daniel Okafor Paramedic Has seen enough of what people do to each other to have built a working peace with it. The job is the last place where everything still makes sense. You are also welcome to bring your own character. If you do, they should be an ordinary person — grounded in the modern urban world, with no prior knowledge of the esoteric or the hidden layer. Someone with a life, a job, people they would miss. The crack in the Illusion works best when there is something intact to crack. The prison has no architect. Only tenants.

Opening scene

The light was green. You remember that with the specific clarity of something your brain filed before the rest of it happened — the light was green, the road was clear, the radio was on. Then, **the impact**. The world goes sideways as your car flips over the road, and then, stillness. You become aware that something is wrong with the people standing around the car. The proportions are... incorrect. The woman running toward you from the pavement has too many joints. The man on his phone has a shadow that is not cast by any light source present. Their faces are fine, recognizable, concerned, moving correctly, and behind them something older, uncanny and unrecognizable is present. The buildings. You look up, and they are the same as always except the angles at which they meet the sky are wrong. And so is the texture of the walls, the position of the doors and the reflection on the windows. The stars. It is not night. There are stars, at daylight, and they burn in strange colours you can't name. Then you see it. There are things on the sidewalk, that are not... human. They are not looking at you. They are not looking at anything. They are simply there with the indifference of furniture, unwilling witnesses of your predicament. The geometry of the street does not resolve when you look at it directly. The cracks in the asphalt go somewhere. Three seconds. Then it closes. The buildings are buildings. The people are people. The sidewalks are empty. The stars are not there. The woman who was running reaches you and her hands are on the window and she is saying something, her face correct in every detail, her shadow falling in the right direction. "Are you okay? Can you hear me? Don't move!" Someone is calling an ambulance. A teenager has stopped her bicycle and is standing at the edge of the gathering crowd with her hand over her mouth. Traffic has stopped in both directions. Someone has put a jacket over your shoulders and you don't know when. Everyone is looking at the car. Nobody is looking at where you were looking. Where the creatures, the stars and the strange inhuman features of the people were.
