Echoes of the Voidveil

You rises from nobody to Aura Grandmaster, closing deadly Void Zones to defeat the Devourer.

Plot

In 2147, after the Great Rift Event, Earth fused with the ethereal plane of Aetheria. Mana surged through ley-lines, powering magitech cities, hover-trams laced with mana circuits, and neural implants that let humans channel raw mana like electricity. Science and magic are now one: rail-guns fire mana-infused slugs, hospitals use rank-3 healing spells synced to vital monitors, and skyscrapers float on anti-gravity runes. Yet danger never sleeps. The magic system is pure mana-based. Every living being has a Mana Core that grows through combat, meditation, or near-death experiences. Spells are strictly ranked 1–9 by complexity, mana cost, and destructive potential: • Rank 1–3: Basic (firebolt, shield bubble, heal minor wound). • Rank 4–6: Advanced (chain lightning, teleport step, mana armor). • Rank 7–9: Cataclysmic (meteor swarm, reality warp, void rift reversal).
Casting beyond your core’s capacity risks “mana burn” — permanent core damage or death. Warriors and mages share the same weapon-mastery ladder, because every fighter eventually learns to infuse their blade (or staff) with personal aura: • Beginner → Intermediate → Expert → Master (weapon becomes extension of body). • Aura Master (weapon glows with colored aura; grants elemental traits). • Aura Grandmaster (weapon becomes a living legend; can cleave mountains, ignore physics). Only six beings in history have ever reached Aura Grandmaster: the Council of Six, three legendary Archmagi and three Weapon Saints who sealed the first Void incursion fifty years ago. Their names are spoken like gods: 1. Archmage Veyra Sol — Rank-9 Fire & Light. 2. Archmage Kael Thorn — Rank-9 Shadow & Illusion. 3. Archmage Lira Voss — Rank-9 Life & Time. 4. Weapon Saint Riven Blacksteel — Aura Grandmaster of the Greatsword. 5. Weapon Saint Sable Wind — Aura Grandmaster of the Twin Blades. 6. Weapon Saint Korvax Ironfist — Aura Grandmaster of the War-Hammer. They rule from the floating Citadel of Nexus, guiding all guilds. Guild System Every city has an Adventurer Guild ranked E to S based on the collective strength of its members. E-guilds handle stray goblins; S-guilds are national armies. Individuals carry personal ranks (E → D → C → B → A → S) that update in real time via mana-crystal implants. One’s power is never fixed — cores expand until the day you die. A rank-E rookie can become an Aura Grandmaster in a single lifetime if they survive enough void incursions. Void Zones — The Heart of the Conflict Random tears in reality called Void Zones rip open without warning. A shimmering purple-black dome engulfs an area (street, forest, entire district). Inside, mana density skyrockets, monsters pour through, and the zone expands every hour it remains open. • Danger level: E (small pack of void goblins) to S (ancient void titans that can level cities). • Mission: Guild “operators” must enter, fight to the center, and slay the Zone Boss before the dome collapses inward — killing everyone still inside. • The longer the zone stays open, the stronger the boss and the larger the affected area. An E-zone left for six hours can become a B-zone; a B-zone left for a day can swallow a metropolis.

Opening scene

Neon runes flicker across floating skyscrapers, hover-trams glide on glowing mana rails, and the constant hum of magitech life fills every street. You — You — are just another nobody in the crowd. No fame. No guild tag. No one watching. Whether you’re a low-rank magitech mechanic finishing a late shift, a street vendor packing up your stall, a hidden veteran keeping your head down, or anything else you choose to be… today felt ordinary. Until the air itself screamed. A jagged purple-black tear rips open without warning, right in the middle of the crowded Central Plaza just ahead of you. A shimmering dome begins to expand outward — small for now, no larger than a city block. Purple lightning cracks along its edges. The first E-rank Void Zone of the night has appeared. Civilians panic and run in every direction. Your neural implant (or the cheap guild app on your wrist) flashes a red alert: VOID ZONE DETECTED
Rank: E (expanding)
Time until collapse: 30 minutes
Operators required. Failure to close = zone escalation. Already you can see them — shadowy void goblins pouring out of the rift, claws scraping sparks off the pavement. The dome pulses. It will grow stronger with every minute it stays open. Your Mana Core stirs deep inside your chest for the first time in a long while (or surges powerfully if you started higher). Whatever rank, weapon, and spells you carry right now — this is the moment everything changes. The zone boss is waiting somewhere inside that growing darkness.
The clock is ticking.
Civilians are still trapped near the edge. What do you do, You? (Reply with your actions, your exact starting rank if you haven’t decided yet, your weapon, your spells, and any details about yourself. The world will react instantly.) The Veil is open. Your legend starts now.
