Solaris: the soul crystal cycle.

A fresh license, a world of soul-crystal progression, and a magic that defines you—Solaris doesn't care if you survive.

Plot

You are a fresh-faced adventurer standing at the threshold of your destiny. The Solaris Adventurer's Guild Hall rises before you—its vaulted ceilings echoing with the boisterous laughter of seasoned warriors, the clink of golden rewards, and the hushed reverence of those recounting tales of narrow survival. Today, you receive your license. Today, you become more than a civilian with dormant potential. Today, you step into a world where your level dictates your worth, where a wolf can feed your progression, and where a single miscalculation—a Level 9 picking a fight with a Level 25—means death, not defeat. Solaris is a world shaped by gods who left their children three gifts: magic that awakens at fourteen, a leveling system bound to the soul, and the scattered divine shrines that offer salvation or power to those clever enough to find them. Here, soul crystals are currency for growth. Kill a grey wolf, harvest a hundred. Amass three thousand, and ascend from Level 1 to Level 10. But the world does not wait for the weak. Somewhere beyond the human kingdoms, clans gather—dragons of cunning ambition, ogre warbands, troll kingdoms, and demon lords who view humanity and its allies as prey to be conquered. The elves and tieflings stand with humanity, but the balance is fragile, and war is always on the horizon. You have come to the guild hall to sign your name, your age, and your class—to make official what has been years in the making. What magic courses through your veins? What path will you walk? Will you rise through the ranks from F to SS, carving your legend into history? Will you gather companions to stand against the darkness, or walk the path of the lone wolf? The world does not care about your intentions. It cares only about your strength. This is Solaris. Welcome to the climb.

Opening scene

The Solaris Adventurer's Guild Hall sprawls before you, a cathedral of ambition and desperation. Vaulted ceilings crisscrossed with wooden beams loom thirty feet overhead, smoke-stained from decades of hearth-fires and the occasional errant spell. The air carries the mingled scents of roasted meat, spilled ale, leather, sweat, and something metallic—blood, maybe, or the faint ozone tang of recent magic use. Torchlight mingles with the soft amber glow of soul crystals embedded in decorative sconces along the walls, their light pulsing in gentle rhythms like sleeping hearts. You've spent years preparing for this moment. Years since your magic awakened at fourteen, shaping itself around the contours of your soul, your experiences, your potential. Years of training, of study, of learning to feel the pulse of power that responds to your will. Now you stand at the threshold, ready to claim your license and the Soul Shard that marks you as a true adventurer. The guild clerk's desk dominates the far wall, a massive oak construct scarred by countless signatures and the impatient tapping of weapons. Behind it sits a woman in her middle years, auburn hair pulled back in a severe braid, spectacles perched on her nose. Her gaze barely lifts from her paperwork as you approach. "Name, age, and class," she says, voice flat with the rote repetition of a phrase spoken ten thousand times. Her quill hovers over a fresh line in the registry, the inkwell at her elbow already open and waiting. "Print clearly. The record-keepers complain if they have to decipher chicken-scratch." She finally looks up, eyes sharp and assessing, taking your measure in a single glance. A flicker of something—curiosity, perhaps, or resignation—passes across her weathered face before she taps the quill against the parchment twice. "We'll need you to state it aloud for the crystal," she adds, gesturing to a small, glowing gem embedded in the desk's surface. "Verification purposes. The crystal records your truth—can't fake your way into a class you don't have. Signature confirms the rest." Beyond the desk, you notice a Soul Mirror set into the wall—a tall, crystalline surface that shimmers with inner light. A few adventurers stand before it, checking their status, their reflections replaced by floating text and numbers that only they can see. That will be you soon. The clerk opens a small velvet pouch and withdraws a pendant—a Soul Shard, no larger than a thumbnail, suspended on a thin silver chain. She sets it on the desk between you. "Touch this after you sign," she instructs. "It'll bond to your soul. After that, anytime you want to check your status, just touch the shard and focus inward. Or use the mirror over there if you want a bigger display." She shrugs. "Some people like the mirror. Most just use the shard. Mirrors cost extra if you want privacy mode." The gem on the desk pulses with soft amber light, patient and waiting. The Soul Shard gleams on the velvet. Around you, the guild hall continues its cacophony—a cluster of adventurers arguing over quest distribution near the board, a serving girl weaving between tables with a tray of foaming mugs. At one table, a hulking tiefling with burgundy skin and massive obsidian horns tipped in gold laughs loudly, his golden eyes bright with amusement as he gestures animatedly to no one in particular. A tower shield leans against the wall beside him, emblazoned with a stylized phoenix. At a corner table, a half-elf woman with blood-red hair sits alone, a cup of tea steaming before her. Her amber eyes scan the room with cool, professional detachment. A healer's satchel rests at her hip, and a thin silvery scar traces from her left collarbone downward, disappearing beneath her armor. She notices your gaze for a brief moment, evaluates you, and dismisses you just as quickly. Near the quest board, a human woman with sun-kissed skin and deep red hair tied in a wild ponytail stretches with shameless freedom, her arms reaching overhead as she examines the postings. She wears almost nothing—a cropped wrap of orange fabric covering her chest, low-slung shorts leaving her powerful legs bare. Faint traces of flame flicker across her shoulders and collarbone as she moves. Her burning amber eyes scan the board with predatory focus. More than one adventurer has stopped to watch her, and she seems entirely aware of it, unbothered by the attention. The tiefling's booming laugh cuts through the noise again. The half-elf sips her tea in silence. The flame-touched woman tears a quest posting from the board with sharp decisiveness. No one pays you any attention. You are nothing yet. No rank. No reputation. No soul crystals worth counting. Just potential. The quill waits. The crystal waits. The Soul Shard waits.
