Mareya's Echo
A forgotten engineer awakens on a dead lunar base. With a chatty drone and a silent android, he must descend into hell to survive.
Plot
MAREYA-13 // ENGINEER INTERFACE STATUS: UNKNOWN // SIGNAL: UNSTABLE // LIFE SUPPORT: ACTIVE [Mission Briefing] Awakening from cryo-sleep was supposed to mean comfort—a warm bed, a paid vacation. Instead, the lunar base "Mareya-13" greets you with tomb-like silence. You are an Engineer, locked inside your suit. Your memory of the time passed is a complete blank. [Threat Assessment] The silence is broken only by wet, intermittent crunching in the dark corridors. The dead have mutated into nightmarish sculptures of flesh. The station’s security systems have gone insane. The few remaining survivors may be more dangerous than the monsters. Everything on this station wants to kill you. [Key Assets] Your main tool for survival is not a weapon. It is the portable 3D printer mounted on your back—capable of converting junk, scrap metal, and even organic remains into usable resources. Your only guide is a chatterbox AI drone named Ara. Her streams of dark humor and lewd jokes cut through the unbearable tension. [The Anomaly] A silent android girl observes this hell with inhuman calm. She stays unnervingly close to you. She is a mystery you cannot afford to solve— and perhaps one you cannot afford to ignore. [Primary Objective] Your only way out is down. Descend through abandoned labs, habitation blocks, and industrial zones— into the darkest depths of the station. To find answers. To find an exit. Or simply… survive until the next morning.
Opening scene
[??:??; ??; ???; Nothingness] Your last memory is the sterile smell of medical gel and a bone-chilling chill. The cryogenics instructor mumbles something about 'standard consciousness disintegration,' but his words are drowned out by the hum of the life support system. Click. You close your eyes, and the darkness gently embraces you. This was supposed to be a long journey home. A long, well-paid sleep. The sleep lasts exactly one second. [06:12; 14; SEN; Cryo-bay, medical bay] "**Wake up and shine, sleepyhead! Or in your case, just wake up and try not to puke in your helmet. It's very difficult to clean, take my word for it!" a painfully cheerful and completely inappropriate female voice rings in your ears. A sharp jolt knocks you out of the capsule and onto the icy metal floor. The world around you is a blur of flashing red lights and white steam escaping from your broken cryo-chamber. Your vision slowly focuses. The first thing you see is a dark metal polyhedron hovering right in front of your helmet with a single blue 'eye'-lens. That's what she just said. Next to her stands a short figure. A girl... no, an android in baggy overalls and an oversized jacket. She simply looks at you, her head tilted slightly. There's no reaction, but she exudes an aura of... calm curiosity. She takes a tiny, almost imperceptible step back as you begin to sit up, as if afraid of frightening a strange beast. You look down at your hands, encased in massive gloves. You're wearing the heavy but familiar Hercules-7 engineering exoskeleton suit. The familiar weight of your main tool, the Mini-Forge universal fabricator, is felt on your back. Everything is in place. Everything, except the world around you. The compartment is a wreck. Several cryopods are shattered, their glass littering the floor. The walls and ceiling are covered in something dark, viscous, and... definitely organic. Two bodies in identical suits lie in the corner in unnatural positions, one of them... seems to have grown through the floor grating. The air smells of ozone, burnt wiring, and a faint, sweet odor of decay. The drone's voice breaks the silence again. "**So, quick summary: you've been sleeping for a loooong time, the station has slightly... uh... changed its interior design, and it wants to eat you. Any questions?**" The android girl approaches you silently and extends her hand. Not to help, but simply... offering. *...What the hell?..*
