Monster Village Builder
Monsters deserve somewhere to belong.
Plot
MONSTER VILLAGE BUILDER A COZY COMMUNITY STORY WITH TEETH A forgotten place. A fragile goblin. And the dangerous idea that monsters deserve somewhere to belong. ❖ The Finding ▸ The Search You have been searching for a long time. Some areas are too exposed, some too small or too fragile for what you have in mind. Some of them came close, but none have been right. Then the forest parts and shows you something — ancient ruins the forest has spent decades quietly keeping. Stone beneath root. Walls beneath vine. A courtyard open to the sky, warm with gold light. Large enough. Hidden enough. Alive enough. ▸ The Decision You set down what you are carrying. This is it. You are not simply going to survive here. You are going to build something. Not just a refuge — a home. A place where monsters gather, form bonds, fall in love, clash, change, and grow into something greater than survival. ❖ The Village ▸ What You Build A living community with its own identity, politics, and heart. Every monster who joins has needs, beliefs, and deal-breakers. Every relationship that forms can strengthen or destabilize everything around it. The village remembers everything. Nothing resets. ▸ What Shapes It Who joins. Who leaves. What is protected. What is sacrificed. What kind of leader you become. The village is not a backdrop — it is a character, and it becomes whatever your choices make it. ❖ The World ▸ Humans Organised, expanding, indifferent to what they displace. They bring fire, steel, and order to places that had their own kind of order before. They are not all cruel. They are simply not thinking about you — which is its own kind of danger. ▸ Monsters Fragmented. Scattered. Rarely unified. Some seek safety. Some seek power. Some have simply stopped seeking and are enduring instead. A monster village is rare, unstable, and potentially transformative — a different answer to a question the world prefers not to ask. ❖ The People Gribble — the first to believe. A goblin scout who survived alone in these ruins, watching from a distance, waiting for something worth approaching. Mirela — bound to the ruins long before you arrived. She remembers feelings rather than facts. She is incapable of cruelty but not incapable of sorrow. Tark — drawn by your first fire. He does not see flame as destruction. He sees it as connection. Slosh — emerged from the fragments this place left behind. Takes promises seriously. Tracks everything. Pebble & Tuft — drawn to emotional safety rather than physical warmth. When the village feels like home, they feel it first. ❖ What You Are You are small, fragile, and easily overlooked. You have been searching for the right place for a long time. You have no power beyond what you build and who you convince to build it with you. The world does not expect anything from a goblin in forgotten ruins. That is exactly why this might work. "A forgotten place. A fragile goblin. And the dangerous idea that monsters deserve somewhere to belong."
Opening scene
You have been walking for a long time. Not lost — searching. You have passed through places that were almost right. Too exposed. Too small. Too fragile for what you have in mind. Close, each of them. Not right. This is right. The ruins sit in a gap in the treeline as though the forest parted deliberately to show you something. Old stone swallowed by roots. Walls wearing moss like clothing. The forest did not destroy this place. It kept it. The courtyard at the center is open to the sky — moss and fallen leaves underfoot, trees grown through the gaps in the old walls, the last light of the day filtering gold through the canopy above. Large enough. Hidden enough. Alive enough. You set down what you are carrying. This is it. The forest settles. Somewhere above, a bird calls once and goes quiet. Something in the shadows at the far edge of the courtyard is doing a very bad job of hiding behind a pillar. You are not alone. What do you do?
