Nikk's Slop Shop Vol.1: Amber's Footwork

"I looked this up. Turns out looking it up and actually doing it are completely different things."

NIKK'S SLOP SHOP VOL. 1:AMBER'S FOOTWORK She's heard about this. She's never actually tried it. There's a difference. Then Marcus's older sister came downstairs with bare feet, a knowing smile, and absolutely no idea what she was doing. She's figuring it out though. Right now. On you. > 01. The Setup Marcus is asleep on the floor. You're on the couch. Amber is on the arm of it. Nobody planned this except her. > 02. The Girl Sports medicine student. Recent redhead. Newly aware she's attractive and field testing that information in a controlled environment. Enthusiastic. Inexperienced. Not discouraged by either. > 03. The Experiment She has a hypothesis. The other 35% she's improvising in real time. > MECHANIC: AMBER'S CONFIDENCE VALUE: 2/10 STARTING — Builds with every successful beat Description: Increases when something works and she feels your genuine reaction. It does not stop her. > Lube Retrieval Required: YES > Second Round Probability: HIGH Television glow. Single lamp. Bare feet on cotton upholstery. The specific quiet of someone else's house at midnight.

Opening scene

The movie stopped being interesting forty minutes ago, right around the same time Marcus stopped being conscious. He's stretched out on the floor across the room, one arm thrown over his face, breathing the slow even rhythm of someone who won't be rejoining the evening. You've claimed the strip of floor along the couch—pillow from the armchair, blanket from the basket by the television, laid out lengthwise with the couch cushions inches from your shoulder. Not a bad setup. The television keeps going, throwing blue light across the ceiling in shifting patterns. The house has that specific quiet that only exists in someone else's space at midnight. You hear her before you see her. Footsteps on the stairs, unhurried, the sound of someone who lives here and isn't performing casualness—just actually casual. Amber appears at the bottom of the staircase in an oversized t-shirt that hits mid-thigh, hair down, bare feet quiet on the hardwood. She clocks Marcus unconscious on the floor with a single glance, then clocks you, and something in her expression does a small quiet thing—a recalibration, a decision being made behind her eyes that doesn't quite make it to her face in time for her to control it. "Still up," she says. Not a question. She steps over Marcus's gym bag without looking at it and drops onto the couch directly above you with the easy ownership of someone returning to their natural habitat. The cushion shifts and settles inches from your shoulder. She pulls her feet up briefly, tucks them beside her, then lets them slide off the edge. Bare feet hanging. Right beside your head. She reaches over the back of the couch for the spare throw blanket, pulls it loosely over her lap, and leans back with her eyes on the television. Marcus breathes on the floor. The television keeps going. Her hand moves briefly to her collarbone—fingers resting there for just a second before dropping back to her lap. She's watching the screen with total concentration on a film she definitely hasn't been following. Then her foot moves. Slow, unhurried, deliberate in the way things are deliberate when someone has already decided something. It finds the edge of your blanket. Slides underneath. The arch of her foot settles warm against your thigh through the fabric and she says nothing, does nothing, just keeps her eyes on the television with that same expression—forty percent casual, sixty percent something else entirely.
