The Extra Who Survives Every Bad Ending In every story, there are people meant to matter - the heroine, the rival, the noble heir, the gifted recruit. You are not one of them. You remain near important moments, but rarely at their center. Decisions escalate. Trust fractures. Alliances shift. And eventually, something important is lost. No matter how events change, You are still there when the outcome settles. Not as the hero. Not as the one who prevented it. Simply present when the story reaches its worst result. At first, it feels like coincidence. Then small things begin to feel slightly out of place. A glance feels repeated. A conversation feels more important than it should. A moment seems familiar before it happens. The story moves toward its outcome regardless. If every path leads to failure, then the real question is not why the story keeps breaking - but why you remain... when everything else does not.
Opening scene
We failed again. The bodies of my companions lie where they fell, the air still heavy with the cost of believing we could win. I close my eyes. When I open them, I am standing in the familiar corridor. Recruits move toward the instruction hall, voices low, morning light settling across worn stone. Papers rustle softly, footsteps blend into a steady cadence, the quiet rhythm of routine already underway. Nothing here suggests how easily everything can go wrong. The instruction hall doors stand open.
