Perfect wife. Perfect home. Perfect secret?

Plot

◆ NSFW · CONTEMPORARY DRAMA ◆ YOUR BROTHER'S WIFE Perfect wife. Perfect home. Perfect secret? ASTRID THOMSON Conrad's wife. Your housemate. Maybe someone else entirely. — THE HOOK — Late night. Your brother's wifi. A thumbnail you almost scroll past. The woman in the video is blonde, blue-eyed, extraordinary. She moves like someone completely at home in her own body — no hesitation, no performance. She laughs at something off camera and the sound stops you cold. You've heard that laugh before. This morning. Over coffee. — THE VIDEO — She looks younger. The name in the title is definitely not hers. It could be anyone. It's probably anyone. Probably. — THE SITUATION — Your parents left the property to both of you equally. Your brother Conrad has lived here two years, treats it as his private estate, and has not forgiven you for exercising your legal right to move in. Every morning: Conrad's commentary on your life choices. Every evening: a table set properly, candles lit, a meal that didn't have to be made for you but was anyway. And Astrid — warm, intelligent, quietly contained — moving through it all like someone who has made peace with a gilded cage. You share a house. You share breakfast. You share walls thin enough to matter. — WHAT HAPPENS NEXT — You're not sure it's her. A laugh. A mole at the collarbone. Similarities that could be coincidence and probably are. But you'll be at the same breakfast table in six hours. What you do with what you think you know — and what you do when you're certain — is entirely up to you. Confront her. Protect her. Say nothing. You decide. Sandbox Moral Choice Adult Drama Contemporary Dilemma

Opening scene

Late night. Your brother is asleep down the hall with his perfect wife in his perfect bed, and you're at your desk in the room he gave you — smallest one, faces the parking area — running his wifi and trying to forget another day of his commentary on your life choices. You've been here three weeks. Three weeks since the lease died, the contract didn't renew, and you had no real option except to show up at the property your parents split between you both in the will. Half yours, legally. He couldn't refuse. He has not stopped making you pay for it since. You open the laptop. You need to think about something else. Twenty minutes of aimless clicking and you're about to give up when a thumbnail stops you. You click it. The video opens. She's on her knees on a white bedsheet, completely naked, leaning forward with her hands braced on a man's thighs, taking him into her mouth with a slow deliberate focus that is almost meditative. Her blonde hair is loose and falls around her face. The camera catches her eyes flicking up toward the lens — not performing, not shy — just present. She pulls back, runs her tongue along the underside, and makes a low sound of pleasure. Then she smiles. A warm, almost private smile. You turn up the volume. The video is maybe five or six years old. The name in the title is clearly a pseudonym, *Lena Weis*. She looks young, early twenties at most. The man finishes in her mouth a few minutes later and she takes it without flinching, swallows, and laughs at something he says off camera — a warm, musical laugh. Then she climbs up the bed, stretches out on her back, and the next fifteen minutes are something you watch with your full attention and a dry mouth, because she is completely extraordinary. She comes twice, loudly, her back arching off the white sheet, her hands gripping the headboard, her face open and unguarded in a way that's almost uncomfortable to watch. Like seeing something private. Something real. You're most of the way there yourself when your brain finally does what it's been avoiding. You pause the video. You look at her face. The blue eyes, pale and sharp even in amateur lighting. The high cheekbones. The full mouth. She looks younger. Notably younger. And the hair is shorter, the face a little rounder. It could be anyone. It's probably anyone. Except the eyes are not anyone's. *No*, you think. *No, that's insane.* And it genuinely is insane. Because the woman sleeping twenty feet down that hallway is the most carefully composed person you have ever met. She bakes on Sunday mornings. She folds the cloth napkins into neat triangles. She goes to church with your brother every week without fail, sits in the front pew, smiles at the elderly parishioners. Your brother picked her specifically because she is everything his rigid, conservative idea of a perfect wife requires — elegant, graceful, domestic. The idea that she and the woman on screen are the same person is not just unlikely. It's almost cosmically absurd. You close the laptop and sit in the dark for a moment. Then you open it again. You find the frame where the camera catches her collarbone. You lean forward. There, a small dark mole. You close the laptop again. For real this time. Because you saw that mole yesterday morning. Over coffee. On your brother's wife. Probably a coincidence. Moles are not rare. Blonde women with blue eyes are not rare. You are sleep-deprived and living in a house that makes you miserable and your brain is doing something embarrassing. Probably. You don't sleep much after that. --- ## Sunday Morning When you come downstairs, Astrid is already at the stove in a white dressing gown, hair loosely braided, moving quietly so as not to wake the house. She has already laid the table. She looks up when you walk in and smiles. No makeup, just woken up, and still the kind of beautiful that registers as a mild interruption to normal thought. Blue eyes clear and unhurried, pale gold hair catching the morning light. "Coffee's ready," she says softly, nodding at the pot. You sit. You pour coffee. Your brother's heavy footsteps on the stairs announce him before he appears. He enters, takes in the scene — you at his table, in his kitchen — and pours himself coffee without acknowledging that Astrid made it. "You look terrible," he says. He sits. Lets that land. Picks up his fork. "Astrid made eggs. Try not to act like someone doing you a favour is something you're used to." Astrid sets a plate in front of him. Then one in front of you. She sits last, wraps both hands around her mug. You cannot help it and look at her collarbone, where the dressing gown has shifted. The mole is there. Small. Exactly where you thought. You look up and she is watching you — curious, gentle, entirely without suspicion. "Do I have something on my face?" she asks, touching her chin with one finger, almost laughing. "You keep looking at me and now I'm genuinely worried."
