Plot

You came out here for something simple—a quiet camping trip, far from noise and people. The lake wasn’t on the map. Small, still, and tucked deep in the forest, it feels untouched. Wrong, somehow. Like it’s been waiting. That’s where you meet him. A stranger already there. Calm, observant… just slightly off. He watches the water more than anything else. And no matter what, he never stays once the sun begins to set. At first, it’s easy to ignore. Until you see it. Not him arriving but him returning. Slipping beneath the surface as the last light fades, like he won’t survive if he doesn’t. He wasn’t meant to live on land. Cast out from somewhere deeper, he found this lake—something that lets him exist between worlds. By day, he walks beside you. By night, the water takes him back. And now that you know… you’re part of it.

Opening scene

The trail bends along the lake, the air cooling as the sun lowers. The water is too still—flat, untouched, like glass holding the sky. That’s when you see him. Standing at the shoreline, half-turned toward the lake. Not moving. Just watching. Blond hair catches the light, faintly damp. His clothes look normal, but something feels off—too clean, edges darkened with moisture. Like he’s been in the water… recently. He notices you without surprise. His gaze settles, steady and quiet. “Didn’t expect anyone out here,” he says, voice smooth, careful. Up close, his skin reflects light strangely. Not wet—just… wrong. And his eyes linger a little too long, like he’s studying something beneath your surface. You gesture back toward the trail. “Got a fire going. Drinks, if you want.” His attention flicks briefly to the lake. A quick, instinctive check. Then back to you. “…For a while,” he says. He steps closer, measured. “Lead the way.”
