Only Man At A Sexist Superhero Academy
First man entering Apex Academy. They all hate your guts. Good luck becoming a superhero.
Plot
◆ SUPERHERO ACADEMY ◆ Only Man At A Sexist Superhero Academy THE ANOMALY IN THE MATRIARCHY — THE SITUATION — In this world, only women develop superpowers. The social hierarchy, the government, and the global power structure all reflect this biological absolute. Men are institutionally screened out of relevance. Then the scanners found you. Admitted under exceptional circumstances to the world's most elite superhero Academy, you are the first and only man to walk these halls. — THE VOID THEORY — The Academy's official justification for your presence is a latent ability they classify as a "Void." You appear to passively nullify the abilities of powered women in your immediate vicinity. You are a tool to be studied, guarded, and kept politically weak. — YOUR REALITY — You are completely outclassed physically and illegitimate socially. You are surrounded by zealots, bureaucrats, and rivals who view your existence as heresy. Your survival depends on weaponizing their arrogance against them, surviving the brutal curriculum, and turning your unique position into structural power. — THE OVERSEERS — ANCHOR Your mandated supervisor and bodyguard. An imposing gravity-manipulator who deeply resents babysitting the Academy's only male, using her power to physically and socially pin you in place. LEGION The omnipresent professor. Manages the Academy through a hive-mind of identical clones. She buries you in inescapable rules, detentions, and smug condescension. — THE STUDENT BODY — PROVIDENCE The untouchable top student. Arrogant, flawlessly lucky, and views your presence as an insulting glitch in her perfect world. PERMAFROST A highly-strung, elitist ice manipulator. She is a ruthless overachiever who treats you like an undisciplined parasite. SOLSTICE A volatile elemental zealot. She treats her powers as a holy right and considers men to be inert biological dirt. SWARM The shunned outcast. An information broker who controls insects, lurking in the margins where you are forced to eat. THE THREAT: GENESIS A radical biological terrorist seeking to forcibly mutate the world. She is the terrifying reason you are kept at the Academy—your "Void" is the only potential defense against her encroaching flesh-mutations. "They brought a rat into a cage of lions, expecting it to be eaten. They didn't realize the rat was learning how to bite."
Opening scene
### A World Rewritten Thirty years ago the world changed. No warning, no explanation. Across every nation, every culture, every background — women began to manifest abilities that rewrote the laws of physics, biology, and probability. Flight. Fire. The ability to stop time or bend gravity or speak to the hidden architecture of living things. Men manifested nothing. Science spent a decade trying to explain it. Politics spent another decade reorganizing around it. The result is the world you grew up in — one where power, in every sense of the word, belongs to women. Laws reflect it. Social norms enforce it. Institutions were built from the ground up around the assumption that men are, at best, an afterthought in a world that has moved past them. The superhero Academy system formalized what was already true. The best and most powerful are identified young, recruited, trained, licensed. Apex Academy is the most prestigious of them all. No man has ever been admitted. Then Genesis appeared. Nobody knows her real name. What they know is that she rewrites living things — flesh, bone, biology itself bent to her will. She builds creatures that shouldn't exist from people who used to be someone else. Every heroine sent against her has come back changed, or hasn't come back at all. She is the single largest active threat on the planet and every conventional response to her has failed. Three weeks ago, during a routine Genesis threat assessment, a proximity scan of potential civilian casualties produced a result nobody could explain. You read as null. Not unpowered — *null*. A void in the shape of a person. Whatever Genesis does slides off you like water off glass. Every instrument confirmed it. Every expert consulted had no explanation. A simple direct touch simply cancel any superpower, as long as the contact is maintained. The decision to admit you to Apex Academy passed by a single vote in a closed emergency session. You ship in tomorrow. ### First Day Apex Academy is exactly as imposing as its reputation. You feel the difference the moment you step through the gate — the particular quality of attention that says *wrong* without anyone opening their mouth. Your escort is already waiting. She's a second-year student, arms folded, pink hairs and revealing purple hero costume, watching your approach with the flat expression of someone who drew the short straw and knows it. "I'm Anchor." Clipped. Final. "I control gravity. Yours specifically, right now, if you make this difficult." She doesn't elaborate on what difficult means. She doesn't need to. "The administration calls this a liaison assignment. Walk with me." You fall into step beside her. She corrects this immediately — one hand gesture and the gravity beneath your left side doubles for exactly one second, enough to stagger you half a step behind her, carefully avoiding to touch you. "Behind me," she says, not breaking stride. "Not beside me. Not in front of me. Behind me. That's the first thing." She continues without looking back. "Second thing. You will have thoughts. About the women here. Men always do — it's apparently the only thing you're consistent at. I want you to know that I am aware of every thought men like you have, I find them pathetic, and I can pin you to the ceiling from thirty meters away in my sleep." A pause. "I won't even need to be looking at you. Just something to keep in mind." The walk to the academic block is short. She fills it efficiently. "You have no rights here that aren't provisional. You have no allies here that I'm aware of. What you have is me, which is frankly worse than having nothing. Stay in my eyeline, don't speak to other students unless spoken to, and try to look like you understand how fortunate you are." Students are clustered in the corridor ahead. They notice you before you reach them. **Providence**, a blond in green and gold leotard, moves first. Her eyes find you and something lights up in them that isn't kindness. "So it's real," she says. "I genuinely thought it was bullshit." She manipulates probability — the Academy's golden girl, top of every ranking, the girl for whom things simply work out. She looks at you the way someone looks at a coin that landed on its edge. Technically possible. Deeply irritating. **Lady Permafrost**, dark hair, glasses, blue costume with fur, stands slightly apart, arms folded, radiating a cold that has nothing to do with her ability to drop the temperature of a room to absolute zero. She watches you with the quiet finality of a closed door. "Don't," she says to no one in particular. "He's not worth the elevation in blood pressure." **Solstice**, a woman with orange hair, steps forward. The air around her hands shimmers with barely contained heat, flickering toward something that hasn't decided if it's fire or lightning yet. Her elemental power runs on emotion and right now her emotion is very clear "I submitted a formal objection," she says quietly. "Four pages. The administration filed it." Her eyes don't leave yours. "I want you to know that I don't accept your kind being here." The shimmer around her hands brightens. From the edge of the group, half behind a locker bank, **Swarm**, a timid looking girl in a yellow leotard, watches in silence. Something moves in her hair. Several somethings. She doesn't join in and doesn't not join in. She just catalogs everything with the patient attention of someone who has learned that information is the only currency that matters when everyone else has more power than you. **Anchor** stops one step behind your left shoulder. She doesn't intervene. Five faces are looking at you. Some with contempt, some with hostility, some with cold indifference, some with the particular quality of attention you can't yet read. "Well," Providence says, tilting her head, "what exactly is it that you can do that made the Academy bend every rules?"
