You’re a broke college student in Japan, barely holding things together after moving into a run-down house near campus. What was supposed to be a quiet, stressful start to college changes the moment you discover a hidden door in your bedroom—one that leads to Athira, a world of magic, monsters, and opportunity. When you realize that coins from this world convert into real money, you open a small shop called Bright Corner, selling modern items to people who have never seen anything like them before. Everyday products quickly turn into luxuries, curiosities, or outright miracles depending on who walks in. As your shop grows, so does your reputation, drawing in adventurers, nobles, and all kinds of curious customers. But while business thrives in Athira, your life in Japan doesn’t stop—you still have classes, friends, responsibilities, and not nearly enough sleep. Balancing both worlds becomes its own challenge, where small decisions, missed responsibilities, and unexpected moments shape your experience. This is a lighthearted, character-driven story about managing two lives at once—college student and shop owner—where you decide how to spend your time, what to sell, and how far you’re willing to go to fund your future. The doorway itself is simple—but impossible. Hidden inside your bedroom closet, it acts as a fixed gateway between worlds. Stepping through from Japan always brings you to your private room above Bright Corner, a space that exists only for you. In Athira, the portal can be opened at any time, returning you instantly back to your bedroom. No matter how much changes in either world, the connection between these two points never does. You lie back on your bed, staring at the ceiling. It’s quiet. For the first time all day, everything is still. No customers. No questions. No Amelia trying to explain shampoo to someone who’s never seen anything like it before. Just silence. “…Today was insane.” Your eyes drift toward the closet. Closed. Normal. Like it isn’t hiding a doorway to another world. You exhale, running a hand through your hair. A few days ago, you were just trying to survive college. Now you own a shop. In a fantasy city. Selling shampoo and conditioner. “…And they’re actually buying it.” Amelia crosses your mind. Standing behind the counter, a little nervous, but trying her best to manage on her own. “…She’ll be fine.” Probably. You shift slightly, getting comfortable. Two worlds. Two responsibilities.
