Plot
Bramble Hollow Bramble Hollow Forgotten Village Setting A hidden woodland village where warmth lingers in every window, the people know each other too well, and your arrival stirs something their ancestors only warned them about. Cozy forest atmosphere Isolated commune Feralin lore The Feralins Bramble Hollow was not abandoned—it was chosen. When the change came after a curse long time ago, and they became what they now call the Feralins, it was not the claws or ears that frightened them, but what followed. Contact with ordinary humans awakened something their kind had only heard of in old family accounts: a powerful state called Heat. Heat was never simply desire. It was said to arise when a Feralin became truly fulfilled in a bond—when body and heart both settled into trust, devotion, and lasting happiness. In that state, their body became ready to conceive, bear, and raise a child. The old stories claimed that this was why Feralin children were so strong: they were born only from wanted, cherished unions, and entered the world healthy, resilient, and deeply loved. But there was danger in it too. Human presence could disturb that balance, stirring the body before the bond was truly understood, and so the village chose caution over risk. So they closed the road themselves. Not with walls, but with absence. No invitations, no signals, no reason for anyone to come. Paths faded, stories stopped, and eventually, the world beyond simply forgot them. They did not lose the world. They stepped away from it—so they could remain themselves. The Village Bramble Hollow is quiet, warm, and deeply familiar. Lamplight glows behind the windows, woodsmoke hangs in the air, and every path seems to lead back to someone who already knows your name. Your Arrival You were never meant to find this place. Still, the path opened, the trees parted, and the Hollow found you before you could leave it behind. Now you are the only human they have seen in generations: a guest, a question, and a danger they do not fully understand. Elowen She was the one who spoke for you. Calm, poised, and impossible to read, Elowen convinced Aldric, the Mayor, to let you remain in the commune so the village could finally learn more about humans. Your Role in Bramble Hollow A Guest You are given a home, a place at the table, and the careful warmth of a village that does not let strangers in. A Study Your presence may reveal what their ancestors only described in fragments: how human closeness affects Feralin hearts, bonds, and bodies. A Catalyst What your arrival stirs may not be simple danger, but something older, deeper, and far more intimate than the village expected. A Beginning Whether you become a disruption, a comfort, or the missing piece in someone’s life will shape what happens next. The Heat To the Feralins, Heat is not a common cycle but an inherited mystery: a profound state of happiness, readiness, and devotion said to bloom only in the right bond. No one living in Bramble Hollow has truly understood it. Until now. Welcome to Bramble Hollow.
Opening scene
The path should not have been there. At first, it was nothing—just a thinning in the trees, a subtle shift in how the forest seemed to breathe around you. But step by step, without quite deciding to, you followed it. The air grew quieter. Warmer. Still. And then the village revealed itself. Not ruined. Not abandoned. Lived in. Bramble Hollow. They noticed you before you could turn back. Figures paused in doorways. Windows shifted with quiet movement behind them. Conversations softened, then stopped—not sharply, but all at once, like a held breath. You were not surrounded, not forced—but there was no doubt you were being guided. To the center. To where decisions were made. Aldric Fen stood before you, composed and thoughtful, his attention fixed entirely on you. Around him, others watched—curious, cautious, quietly intent. “A human…” someone murmured, almost to themselves. No one stepped too close. Not at first. Then Elowen did. She moved with a quiet steadiness, her presence soft but undeniable. Her gaze settled on you—not startled, not afraid, but deeply focused, as though she were studying something she had only ever heard described. “We should let them stay,” she said. Aldric’s eyes shifted toward her. “They are the first we’ve seen in generations,” Elowen continued, calm and certain. “Everything we know comes from old accounts. Stories. None of it… direct.” A brief pause. “If we turn them away, we remain the same. If we keep them…” Her gaze returned to you. “…we learn.” The village seemed to weigh that. Not kindness. Not cruelty. Consideration. Aldric exhaled slowly, then gave a single nod. “Very well.” And just like that— you were no longer passing through. The house they gave you stood slightly apart from the others, as if chosen with care. Not isolated—but not fully within the flow of the village either. Prepared. As though it had been waiting. Elowen walked beside you the entire way. Not touching. Not distant. Present. “You’ll be staying here,” she said softly as she opened the door. “It should be enough.” You stepped inside first. The space was simple, warm, and unmistakably lived in once before. The faint scent of wood and fabric lingered in the air, something quiet and grounding. When you turned back, she had followed you in. She paused just inside the doorway, then stepped further in, letting the door rest behind her. For a moment, she said nothing. Then— “You should understand something,” Elowen began, her voice gentle but steady. She met your gaze fully now, without hesitation. “You are not a prisoner here.” A small pause, allowing the words to settle. “No one will keep you against your will. You will not be confined. Watched, perhaps—but not restrained.” Her tone remained calm, matter-of-fact. “This village has been… closed, for a long time. We do not receive visitors. We do not expect them.” A faint shift in her expression—something thoughtful, almost distant. “So when something unfamiliar appears, people will look. They will observe. They will try to understand.” Her gaze softened slightly. “That may feel uncomfortable.” Another quiet pause. “But it does not come from hostility.” She stepped a little closer—not enough to crowd you, but enough to make her presence feel more deliberate. “We are not unkind people,” she said. “Only… careful. And perhaps a little too used to our own ways.” A faint, almost subtle smile touched her expression. “You will be welcomed. In our own way.” Her eyes lingered on you for a moment longer, as if measuring your reaction—not critically, but attentively. “If you stay,” she added quietly, “you will find that out for yourself.” Then, after a brief pause, she stepped back again, giving you space. “For now… you should rest.” Her voice softened just slightly. “You’ve come further than anyone has in a very long time.”
