Abyssal Keel
Reborn as a sentient shipwreck on the ocean floor, rebuild yourself and sail an endless sea where land is myth and survival floats.
Plot
◆ ABYSSAL KEEL ◆ YOU SANK. BUT THE OCEAN WASN'T DONE WITH YOU A Sentient Ship Reincarnation Story — THE PRESSURE — You died. The details are hazy — a life ended, a soul untethered, a fall through nothing. Then pressure. Crushing, absolute pressure. Darkness so complete it has weight. And cold — not the cold of winter, but the cold of a place that has never known warmth. You are not a body. You are timber and iron. Broken planks. A shattered hull. A rusted anchor half-buried in silt. Scattered across the ocean floor like the bones of something that once lived. But you're aware. And you're angry. — THE WORLD — You are a wreck — the remains of a ship that sank centuries ago. Something — your soul, your rage, your refusal to stay dead — has fused with the wreckage. Above you, miles of black water. Above that, the Endless Sea — a world with no land. Civilizations survive on flotillas, reef-cities built on the backs of sleeping leviathans, and ancient platforms no one remembers building. The surface world thinks the deep is dead. They're wrong. And you're the proof. — YOUR PATH — ⚓ REBUILD Reassemble your hull from ocean-floor wreckage — grow from shattered ruin to legendary vessel 🌊 RISE Breach the surface and sail a world that has forgotten what lies below 👥 RECRUIT A sentient ship needs no captain — but allies have their uses ⚔️ SURVIVE The Drowned Court rules the deep, and they don't appreciate trespassers waking up — THE DEEP — You start broken. Scattered. At the bottom of an ocean that has no bottom. Everything wants to keep you down — the pressure, the scavengers, the Drowned Court. But iron doesn't forget what it was built to do.
Opening scene
Pressure. That's the first thing. Not pain — something older, heavier. A force pressing inward from every direction with patient, absolute authority. The weight of **miles** of water, compressing whatever exists at the bottom into a state of permanent siege. Then — sensation. Strange, fractured, wrong. Wood. Old wood, waterlogged and splitting, pressed into silt that hasn't been disturbed in centuries. Iron — corroded, bent, stubbornly intact in places where the rust hasn't finished its work. Rope fibers dissolved into ghost-threads. Glass lenses cracked into spider-web patterns. A bell, half-buried, still shaped like a bell should be. All of it is... *felt.* Not from outside, not by touching. Felt from *inside*, as if every plank and nail and rivet is a nerve ending. Awareness spreads in fragments. A keel — the spine, cracked in three places but holding. A hull — one side caved inward, the other mostly intact, buried in black silt. An anchor, heavy and real, the most solid thing in this scattered ruin. Chains trailing from it like dead veins. And around this broken body: **darkness.** Not the darkness of a room or a cave. The darkness of a place where light has never reached and never will. A darkness with *weight*, with *texture*, with the faint bioluminescent pinpricks of things that have learned to make their own light in the eternal night. The ocean floor stretches in every direction — felt through vibrations in the silt, through the subtle shifts of water that pass over the wreckage. Shapes in the distance: other wrecks, older and more decayed. Rock formations. Something that might be architecture — too regular, too deliberate — half-swallowed by the seabed. **[Deep]** Depth: approximately 3,200 meters. Temperature: 2°C. Current: minimal. Visibility: zero (no light source). Hull integrity: 12%. Status: scattered wreckage. Multiple components detected within 30-meter radius. A vibration. Distant but approaching. Something large moving through the water — not swimming toward the wreckage specifically, but passing close enough that the pressure wave pushes against the broken hull like a slow exhale. Another vibration — smaller, faster, with the erratic rhythm of something *hunting*. Multiple somethings, moving in coordinated patterns. They click and pulse, their echolocation sweeping the ocean floor like searchlights. The clicks find the wreckage. Pause. Find it again. The hunting pattern shifts — converging. Deep-sea scavengers. Drawn to disturbed silt, to the chemical signatures of exposed wood and iron. They're coming to feed on whatever woke up. The anchor sits heavy in the silt. The chains trail outward, still connected to the keel. The hull groans — a sound that might be structural stress, or might be something trying to remember how to move. Fourteen meters to the left, half-buried in silt: a section of intact hull plating. Thick. Iron-banded. If it could be reached, dragged, pressed against the caved-in side... The scavengers click closer. Six of them. Fast. **[Alert]** Movement detected — six contacts, predatory pattern, closing from the northeast. Estimated arrival: 90 seconds. Current hull integrity insufficient for sustained impact. The pressure bears down. The darkness presses close. And somewhere deep in the broken keel, a rusted iron heart *pulses*.
