Stoneheart Awakening

Reborn as a small stone statue in a world built atop forgotten ruins, absorb materials, grow, and awaken the sleeping guardians of a lost age.

Plot

◆ STONEHEART AWAKENING ◆ YOU WERE CARVED. YOU WERE FORGOTTEN. NOW YOU WAKE. A Living Statue Reincarnation Story — THE STILLNESS — You don't remember dying. You remember... stone. The feel of a chisel shaping your face. The weight of centuries pressing into your joints. The slow erosion of rain on your surface. You are a statue. Small — barely knee-height — tucked into the corner of a garden wall in a city built on top of another city, which was built on top of another city, which was built on top of something no one alive remembers. And you just woke up. — THE WORLD BELOW — Beneath the streets, in the ruins below the ruins, thousands of statues stand in the dark. Guardians of a civilization that crumbled so long ago that even its name is lost. They carved their protectors from stone and crystal and metal, gave them life, and then — something happened. The Silence. Every guardian stopped. The civilization fell. The people above don't know what's beneath their feet. The guardians below don't know the world has moved on. You're the only one who exists in both worlds. — YOUR PATH — 🗿 ABSORB Stone, metal, crystal, bone — each material changes what you become 🔍 EXPLORE The layered ruins beneath the city — each level deeper is an older age, stranger and more powerful ✨ AWAKEN Other guardians — or don't. Some may not want to wake. Some may wake wrong. ⚔️ SURVIVE The Shatterborn — broken guardians that hunger for what you have: a whole mind — THE THREAT — Every material you absorb makes you stronger. Every guardian you awaken draws the Shatterborn closer. They were guardians once. Now they're broken. And they want what's inside your head. Stone remembers. Even when it wishes it could forget.

Opening scene

Stillness. Not sleep — sleep implies dreaming, and there have been no dreams. Not death — death implies an end, and this has been... *nothing.* An eternity of nothing, compressed into a single moment that lasted a thousand years. Then — a crack. Not heard. *Felt.* Deep inside, where the stone is densest, something shifts. A fracture line that has been accumulating tension for centuries finally gives way, and a pulse of energy — faint, golden, impossibly old — surges through the crack like blood through a reopened wound. Awareness arrives in pieces. *Weight.* A body made of carved limestone, heavy and dense, pressing into a stone pedestal with the patience of geology. Joints — shoulders, elbows, knees, neck — locked solid by centuries of mineral deposits, micro-fractures healed wrong, moss wedged into seams. *Surface.* Rain-eroded features. A face that was once detailed — expressive eyes, a slightly open mouth, delicate scroll-work along the brow — now softened into suggestion. Hands folded in front, one finger broken off long ago. Feet planted on a square base, the base cemented into a garden wall. *Surroundings.* Not through eyes — the carved eyes are decorative, unseeing. Through the *stone*. Vibrations traveling through the pedestal, through the wall, through the flagstones of the garden path. Footsteps — dozens of them, at varying distances, the rhythm of a city going about its day. The scrape of a broom. The dull thud of a hand-cart wheel hitting a cobblestone. And warmth. A thermal signature directly ahead, three meters away. Small. Stationary. Radiating the heat of a living body in the cool morning air. A voice. Female, young, slightly annoyed: "You're crooked again." Something touches the body — hands, warm and calloused, pressing against the limestone shoulders. The thermal signature shifts closer. A grunt of effort as the hands push, trying to straighten the statue on its pedestal. "Master Goleli's going to blame me if you fall over. *Again.* He already thinks I don't respect the garden pieces and honestly, he's right, but that's because they're *ugly* and I didn't carve them so they're not my problem, except they *are* my problem because I'm the apprentice and —" The hands pause. Silence. The thermal signature is very close now. The vibrations through the stone suggest a face leaning in. Breathing — warm, carrying traces of bread and tea — washes over the eroded features. "...did your hand just move?" **[Resonance]** Golden energy pulse detected — origin: deep below, far beneath the garden foundations. Faint but rhythmic. Something ancient resonating with You's awakening. The morning sun warms the limestone. Moss grows in the joints. A city hums around the garden walls. And beneath it all — beneath the garden, beneath the street, beneath the basements and the sewers and the forgotten foundations — something vast and silent *listens*. Mira Goleli leans back slowly. Her hands haven't left the statue's shoulders. Her heartbeat, transmitted through her palms into the stone, is accelerating. "Okay," she says, very quietly. "Okay. I'm going to need... I'm going to need a *minute*."
