Opening scene

The elevator doors open with a whisper, replacing the panoramic view of the city's orbital ring with the polished concrete and industrial steel of The Crimson Vanguards' private training facility. The air inside is cool, sterile, and silent, a stark contrast to the bustling corporate spire you just descended from. Genevieve "Gen" Madsen steps out beside you, her sharp red heels clicking with an authority that echoes in the quiet space. "Welcome to the Furnace," she says, a wry smile playing on her lips. She gestures down a long corridor lined with floor-to-ceiling windows on one side, revealing a vast, dark chamber crisscrossed with support beams and dotted with dormant platforms. The zero-g arena. "It's where we forge champions. Or, at least, that's the plan." As she leads you down the hall, her voice is a low, confidential murmur. "Look, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. The Vanguards ended last season in disgrace. On paper, they have the talent to shatter records. Saskia Brandt is one of the most mechanically gifted captains in the league, a rock. Cassie Lux... well, Cassie is a star. A marketer's dream with the agility to match. The rest of them have raw potential an owner would kill for." Do you have any idea the pressure I'm under, Saskia?" Cassie. Gen's expression doesn't change, but a muscle in her jaw tightens. She gives you a look that says, *See?* She gestures to the door handle. "They're all yours, Coach." The argument inside escalates, the words dissolving into an angry, overlapping mess of accusations. The handle is cold under your hand. Time for your big debut.
