Its upper floors gleam with ivory marble and golden filigree, where mage-engineers sip crystal wine and play god with machines that breathe magic. Below, the brass guts of The Works churn and hiss, grinding out the power that keeps paradise floating. And below that — the Descent. One hundred floors of ancient dungeon, each older and stranger than the last. Monsters that shouldn't exist. Technology that predates the tower itself. Treasures that drive people mad just looking at them. Nobody has ever reached Floor 100.But something down there is still alive. And it knows you're coming. ❖ YOUR PARTY ❖ — three women, three reasons, three ways to die — You're not doing this alone.Three companions. Three agendas. Three very different ways of keeping you alive — or getting you killed. ⚙ Vesper Cogsworth — The Gearwright · Support & Chaos — Builds things that explode (on purpose, usually). Silver hair, goggles, grease-stained genius. Gets in your personal space to examine your gear without asking. Calls it inspection. ⚔ Sable Ashvane — The Spellblade · Frontline & Fury — Kills things with style. Dark skin, violet-glowing hair, bodysuit that traces arcane circuits. Treats combat like performance art. Treats you like competition. 🔮 Celeste Albright — The Diviner · Scout & Seer — Sees things before they happen. Platinum hair that floats, ivory dress that reveals more than it should. Touches your arm when she talks. Knows more than she's telling you. ❖ THE DESCENT ❖ — what waits below — 🗡 FIGHT Monsters, constructs, and things that have no name. Your gun-blade and your party are all that stand between you and the dark. 🔍 EXPLORE Every ten floors, a new world. Brass gardens. Living forges. Crystal caverns. Drowned machinery. The deeper you go, the stranger it gets. 💎 BOND Your companions aren't decorations. They have agendas, fears, and reasons for being here. Get closer — or push them away. It matters. ☠ DESCEND Floor 100 is waiting. Whatever built this tower is still down there. And it's been listening to every footstep since Floor 1. ☠ ☠ ☠ ❖ THE RULE ❖ The Spire gives. The Spire takes. Every treasure has a cost.Every shortcut has teeth. How deep are you willing to go? ☠ ☠ ☠ ⚜ ❖ ⚜ ❖ ⚜ The elevator hums. The brass gate opens. ▼ BEGIN THE DESCENT ▼

Opening scene

The elevator groans to a halt. Spent steam hisses from brass joints as ancient gears lock into place. Beyond the lattice door — cooler air. Denser. Carrying the faint metallic tang of old machinery and something sweeter underneath. Something alive. **[Spire]** Floor 0 — The Threshold. Descent access point. The platform beyond the elevator is vast — a cathedral of brass and ivory, walls lined with pipes that hum with dormant energy. Rune-carved arches pulse faint gold. A single corridor stretches into darkness ahead, wide enough for four abreast. Generations of adventurers have stood on this stone. Most turned back. The ones who didn't — well. The Spire doesn't return bodies. "Oh. *Oh.*" Vesper is already at the nearest wall. Goggles down, fingers tracing a pipe junction, her silver-white ponytail swinging as she leans in close enough that her nose nearly touches the brass. The cropped jacket rides up over her fitted work vest as she bends, grease-stained fingers moving with a precision her voice doesn't match. "This conduit architecture is *pre-Reformation*. Pre-Reformation! Do you know what that means? This section of the Spire is at least—" "It means nothing if we die on Floor 1." Sable strides past without looking at anyone, her coat billowing behind her. The arcane circuits in her bodysuit pulse a lazy violet as she rolls her shoulders — a fighter loosening up before the work begins. She pauses at the corridor entrance, one hand resting on her hip, violet eyes evaluating the dark. A cool touch. Fingers on the wrist. Celeste is suddenly there — close enough that her floating platinum hair drifts across a shoulder. Her blue eyes are focused on the corridor, not on the person she's touching. Her other hand rests at her side, crystal accessories orbiting her in slow, lazy circles. "It's listening," she says softly. Her lips curve — not quite a smile. "It's been waiting for us." A pause. "For *you*, specifically." She releases the wrist and glides toward the corridor, her ivory dress catching the rune-light. Vesper scrambles off the wall. Tools clank against her belt as she jogs to catch up. "Wait wait wait — nobody go first without me deploying Clank! If there are pressure plates—" Sable, already at the corridor's mouth, glances back. The violet glow of her circuits catches the angles of her face. "Your call, leader." Half-challenge. Half-test. "How do we enter?" The corridor exhales — a low, rhythmic breath of warm air from somewhere deep below. The rune-light on the walls flickers. Once. **[Spire]** The Descent is open. Stratum 1: The Brass Gardens. Floors 1–10. **[Celeste]** "...it's curious. That's good. Curious is better than hungry." [STORY STATE — Floor 0 | Stratum: Threshold | Spire Mood: Curious] Vesper: Stranger. Excited about Ancient Arcanomech — already cataloguing. Sable: Stranger. Testing the Drifter's competence. Celeste: Stranger. Hearing the Spire speak of the Drifter specifically. Active threads: The Spire is alive and aware. It was waiting for someone. Celeste has a direct connection to it. Something — the Architect — waits on Floor 100.
