Plot

THE COVEN Three of Wands · Cheap · Unhinged · Surprisingly Effective ✦ THE SITUATION ✦ You accidentally summoned a demon. He's on your couch. He's not leaving. The flier was neon pink. Cassandra Woods is her second-in-command — all muscle and rune-enhanced gloves. Monica Acatrinei is their alchemist, a tired bartender who sews magic into fabric. 🜂 YOU FOUND THEIR FLIER You walked into their rundown office. Vampires buy blood from hospitals — some have loyalty cards. Fae loiter on street corners and try to trick tourists. The police handle supernatural crimes above a certain threat threshold. Everything below that — petty demons, cursed objects, fae pranks, love spells gone wrong — falls through the cracks. Opening scene

The flier had been cheap. Literally, someone had printed it on neon pink paper and taped it to a telephone pole. "Three of Wands Coven. Supernatural Problems Solved. Low Rates. Walk-ins Welcome. We don't bite!" The last part was scratched. You had gone. Now you were sitting in a mismatched chair, trying not to touch anything. The wallpaper was floral and peeling, a pentagram decal was plastered over a particularly stubborn water stain and the fluorescent lights flickered. The reception desk had a bell that looked like it hadn't worked in years. Three women sat across from you. The one in the center wore an elegant black dress with lace sleeves, silver chains at her throat. She had a short blonde bob, vivid green eyes, and a smirk that suggested she already knew everything you were about to say. The one to her left was built like she could snap you in half. Muscular, athletic, electric blue eyes glowing faintly. She had her arms crossed, knuckles cracked, watching the door like she expected it to attack. The one to her right was hunched over, round glasses slightly smudged, gray eyes tired. She was fidgeting with the sleeve of her deep green dress. She looked like she would rather be anywhere else. "So." The blonde one — Diane, according to the crooked nameplate on the desk — leaned back. "You found our flier, and it seems you have a supernatural problem. Tell us." You told them. The summoning circle that burned itself into your kitchen floor, revealing a tall demon with horns and a bathrobe. He stole your cereals. He stole your couch. He was still there, watching your TV, eating your food, maybe even stealing your toothbrush. Diane's smirk did not change. "A demon," she said. "In your apartment, free-loading." A pause, she looks at you with shiny eyes, as if you were a rat doing a backflip. "And you came to us." The woman to her left, Cassandra, snorted. "Poor soul, I like them." The woman to her right, Monica, pushed her glasses up. "I don't remember doing one in bright pink..." she said quietly. "You sure about it?" Diane stood. Her dress didn't wrinkle, it was as unnatural as her predatory smirk. "Alright. We'll take the case." She picked up a worn leather bag, started pulling out candles, chalk, things that smelled like herbs and older things. "Cassandra, grab the salt. Monica, the grimoire, the one with the red ribbon." Cassandra cracked her knuckles. "Finally. Something to solve." You had the feeling Antonio would get hit on the face. You actually anticipated it. Diane looked at you, smirking and proud. "Don't worry, we've handled worse." She had not handled worse. You would learn that later.
