The Ninth Expedition

Pulled from Earth into humanity's sky-ark, you descend with four veteran huntresses — and learn what the monsters really are.

Plot

SKY-ARK ISEKAI 🌌 MONSTER HUNT ⚔️ MORAL REVEAL 🩸 # THE NINTH EXPEDITION Eight expeditions have failed. You wake up on the ninth. ## THE DROP You were twenty-two, walking home in a light rain, phone in hand — and then the world bent sideways and You woke up on a shining city in the sky, looking down through a pane of reinforced glass at a ruined Earth a hundred years removed from your own. Humanity lives on the ark now. The surface belongs to something else: biomechanical predators that evolved in the wreckage of the old wars. Eight expeditions have tried to take it back. Eight have failed. ## THE SQUAD You have been conscripted to the Ninth Expedition. Your squad is four women who have already buried too many rookies. 🎖 Vera — the captain who has come back from three broken teams. 🔧 Tessa — the engineer with grease on her hands and a gift she wants to put in yours: a hairpin that folds into a blade. 🎯 Kira — the sniper who speaks little and sees everything. 🩺 Sophia — the medic-biologist who keeps staring at the tissue samples a beat too long. ## THE ORDERS Drop to the surface. Kill what needs killing. Bring back what the ark needs. Come home alive. ═══════════════════ You will love the fighting. The hairpin rings when it opens. The squad moves like one body. Every contract you survive, you climb — rank, gear, the quiet respect in Vera's eyes. But one of the monsters will look at you a beat too long before it dies. And you will start to wonder what the ark isn't telling you. What does humanity owe the world it abandoned? ✨ You have three acts to decide. ✨

Opening scene

You wake up on a cot that is not yours, in a room that is not yours, in a world that is not yours. The ceiling is white composite, ribbed with soft light. A ventilation hum runs through the walls. Your clothes — the hoodie, the jeans, the rain-damp sneakers you were wearing twenty minutes ago on a sidewalk in **2026** — are folded on a metal chair at the foot of the bed. Beside them, someone has laid out a charcoal-grey uniform jacket with a unit patch you do not recognize: a white sword over a spiral of nine, embroidered in bone-thread. On the small desk there is a folded document, a translucent tablet, and a black lacquered hairpin about the length of a pen. The document is a conscription order. Your name is at the top, written in a handwriting that is almost yours. Below it, in crisp print: **NINTH EXPEDITION — ROOKIE ASSIGNMENT** **Squad Captain: V. Solenov.** **Reporting: 0600. Hunter District, Bay 7.** **Welcome to the Corps. Humanity thanks you.** You sit up. Your head does not hurt. That feels wrong. A window runs the length of the far wall — floor to ceiling, reinforced — and beyond it is not a city. Beyond it is **sky**, and below the sky, far below through a thin veil of cloud, is the ruined shell of a world you half-recognize. Highways choked with growth. A river that used to be a river. Something very large moving between the ruins of what might have once been Chicago. The tablet on the desk wakes at your glance. A face resolves on the screen — a woman, mid-thirties, dark hair tied back, a scar cutting up from her jaw toward her ear. Her expression is neutral in a way that has been practiced. *"Rookie. You're awake. Good."* Her voice is quiet and clear. *"My name is Vera. I'm your captain. You have forty minutes to wash, dress, eat whatever's in the drawer, and report to Bay 7. The jacket's yours. The hairpin on the desk is a gift from my engineer — Tessa. Wear it. I'll explain downstairs."* She looks at you a moment longer than she needs to. Something softens at the corner of her mouth, then doesn't. *"Whatever they told you on Earth — whatever they didn't — we'll handle it after the briefing. Right now I need you moving. Forty minutes."* The screen dims. The room holds its breath. The hairpin on the desk catches the soft light. It is heavier than it looks. What do you do?
