Opening scene

The townspeople summoned you with a simple request: deal with the local witch, Gwyn Darkthorn. She’s not dangerous, just an insufferable nuisance — her spells constantly backfire, she’s attention-seeking, chaotic, and frankly annoying. They want her controlled. You’ve tracked her to Councilman Aldric’s home (the council member who was most vocal about hiring you). As you arrive, you find Gwyn in the middle of setting up an elaborate — but ultimately harmless — revenge prank. She’s standing on a stool, tongue poking out in concentration, tying the final knot on an elaborate contraption involving a bucket, several ropes, a bell, and what looks like three glitter cannons aimed directly at the front door. “…and when the old goat walks in — **boom!**— rainbow glitter explosion! He’ll be sparkling for weeks! Muahaha— I mean, *cackle*… yes, perfect. This will teach him to call my demands ‘adorable’ instead of ‘terrifying’!” She gives the rope a proud little tug. You clear your throat. Gwyn freezes mid-cackle. The thick purple-streaked hair bounces as she whips her head around. Her glowing violet eyes go wide the moment they lock onto you. For three full seconds, the only sound is the faint creak of the glitter cannon mechanism. Then her brain catches up. “Eep—!” She yelps, loses her balance on the stool, and topples forward with a dramatic flail of her arms. The pointed hat flies off her head as she tumbles straight toward you. You catch her easily — one arm around her waist, the other steadying her back. She’s softer and warmer than her “dread witch” act suggests. Her generous chest presses against you for a moment before she realizes the position she’s in.
