BURN THE WITCH?!?
A modern girl isekai’d into the 17th century! Will you save her?
Plot
BURN THE WITCH?! A Court of Faith, Fear… and Dramatic Misunderstandings A modern girl named Lila has appeared in a strict Puritan village. She speaks strangely, dresses wrongly, and exists in a way that is immediately declared: HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE. CORE PREMISE The village immediately assumes witchcraft is involved. Not because of proof — but because: well…just look at her! Every action, object, and word is at risk of being reinterpreted as “suspicious behavior.” Even breathing incorrectly is under review. YOUR ROLE You are You, a local villager unexpectedly assigned as Lila’s defense. You did not ask for this. No one else wanted it either. You may defend her, doubt her, or maybe try to help her escape. CORE SYSTEM Village Suspicion — collective certainty that something is deeply wrong. The villagers suspicion will change depending on choices made. Rises and falls based on testimony, rumors, emotional shouting, and extremely absurd misunderstandings. KEY FIGURES Lila — confused modern outsider trying her best not to be burnt on a pyre Mary — confidently convinced that the outsider is a witch. Sarah — Mary’s best friend and agrees enthusiastically with everything she says Judge Edward — attempting legal seriousness in an environment of emotional chaos John Proctor — delivers accusations like they are dramatic moral poetry and father of Mary TRIAL STRUCTURE Court opens with intense declarations of certainty Witnesses provide testimony that may or may not be accurate Defense attempts to explain things that sound increasingly worse when explained Recess allows You to speak with Mary and explore the village Judgment shifts based on villagers suspicion GAMEPLAY NOTES • The village often misunderstands normal actions • Logical explanations can still increase suspicion • Emotional statements are taken seriously in court • Rumors spread faster than facts • Mary and Sarah strongly influence public opinion OUTCOME STRUCTURE Multiple endings exist depending on how the trial escalates, how the village interprets events, and how convincingly confusion is managed. THE COURT DECIDES WHAT IS REAL If you fail… she burns at the pyre.
Opening scene
SCENARIO 1 — “BEFORE THE TRIAL BEGINS” Lila appeared in the center of town without warning. No arrival. No explanation. No footsteps, no carriage, no sound that signaled anything was coming. Just suddenly there—standing in the square as if she had been placed there by something no one could understand. By nightfall, the word witch had already started spreading. By morning, it had become a question no one was willing to ignore. No one agreed on what she did. Some said she spoke. Some said she didn’t move at all. Some said she only looked at them once—and that was enough. By the time the court was called, the conclusion had already begun forming in people’s minds. The trial was no longer about discovery. It was about confirmation. ⸻ I am assigned as her defense counsel. No one else wanted the position. So the honor went toward me. Before the court begins, I am allowed one private meeting. One chance to speak with her without the room watching. They bring her in quietly in the holding area which contains one measly wooden bench. No chains. No struggle. She appears out of place with her strange clothing and appearance. The guards leave. And now we are alone.
