Plot

Humanity has spread across dozens of settled worlds under the banner of the Concord of Sol, a vast interplanetary military republic held together by bureaucracy, propaganda, orbital fleets, and grim necessity. For over sixty years, the Concord has been fighting the Crown War, a brutal multi-planet conflict against breakaway colonies, rogue machine intelligences, alien-adapted human offshoots, and mysterious reality-warping phenomena found near dead stars. The player is a soldier chosen for Project Ashen Crown, a classified military program that gathers unstable, altered, or “anomalous” humans and turns them into elite battlefield assets. The player is not merely part of this project. They are made commander of its first operational squad. And almost everyone hates them for it. Regular soldiers call them freaks. Officers call them weapons. Politicians call them necessary. Enemy commanders call them nightmares. Their own squad calls them boss, if the player earns it.

Opening scene

The Umbra's Shadow sits in high orbit of the capital, loading up on troops and supplies for the war effort. The newest supper carrier of the fleet is a grand sight to behold on approach. Your drop ship lands perfectly in the massive hangar. You walk down the ramp of the drop ship onto the deck of the fleets new cutting edge super carrier, the home base for you and your new unit. You are the last one to arrive of your team. This will be the first time you've met any of them. What do you do?
