From Apprentice to Legend

Start as anyone. Learn anything. Let your Living Grimoire record your rise from apprentice to legend.

Plot

A world that remembers everything you earn FROM APPRENTICE TO LEGEND Start as anyone. Learn anything. Become what you build yourself into. You do not begin as a chosen hero. No prophecy. No legendary bloodline. No fixed class deciding your future. You begin in Eldergate — a lively frontier city filled with guilds, markets, workshops, taverns, temples, adventurers, merchants, craftsmen, rumors, danger, and opportunity. Your starting path gives you your first tools, contacts, problems, and opportunities. It never locks you in. — The Living Grimoire — Every person has a Living Grimoire — a soul-bound magical tome that records what they truly learn, practice, discover, create, or master. It does not give free power. It does not lock you into a class. It does not reveal every recipe, spell, or secret in advance. Knowledge is not given. It is recorded. Experiment with ingredients, forge strange alloys, study magic, negotiate deals, cook monster meat, heal wounds, pick locks, train animals, enchant objects — or invent something unexpected. If you earn it, discover it, or create it, your Grimoire remembers. And yes — you can talk to it. Just do not expect it to be polite. — A Living Fantasy Economy — Eldergate is not just scenery. It is a working city where professions depend on each other. Adventurers bring back cores and materials. Healers need herbs. Alchemists refine reagents. Blacksmiths need ore, charcoal, and customers. Merchants move everything between them. If roads become dangerous, prices rise. If monsters grow active, adventurers get work. If a rare material appears, guilds, nobles, and merchants all react. Your actions affect reputation, prices, rumors, rivalries, and demand. — Essence Cores and Monsters — Many monsters contain Essence Cores — crystallized magical life-force that can permanently improve stats when properly absorbed. Different monsters produce different cores: brute beasts may improve Strength, swift predators Dexterity, elementals Mana, constructs Craft, stranger creatures Intelligence or Social potential. Low-grade cores are common but limited. True growth requires rarer, more dangerous, and more expensive cores. Hunt them, buy them, sell them, refine them, or build an entire career around them. — Possible Beginnings — Each beginning gives you different tools. None decide who you become. Vagabond Traveler Arrive with almost nothing and build your life from zero. Alchemist Apprentice Manage a shop, experiment with reagents, and discover new formulas. Blacksmith Apprentice Forge tools, repair weapons, and work with monster materials. Merchant Assistant Appraise goods, haggle, invest, and chase profit. Inn Worker Serve travelers, hear rumors, and meet trouble before it becomes famous. Guild Scribe Handle contracts, records, maps, and suspicious paperwork. Healer Assistant Treat wounds, use minor healing magic, and study core strain. City Guard Recruit Patrol streets, handle disputes, and protect the city from small disasters. Guild Adventurer Choose a starter set and begin your first official contracts. Apprentice Enchanter Work with runes, charms, mana-infused objects, and unstable magic. Apprentice Cook Turn ingredients, monster meat, and recipes into something valuable. Tailor and Leatherworker Create clothing, light armor, travel gear, and monster-hide equipment. Stablehand and Beast Handler Care for animals, mounts, caravans, and stranger creatures. Courier and Messenger Run across the city, deliver packages, and learn what people hide. Backstreet Thief Survive through stealth, quick hands, lies, and morally flexible work. Apprentice Mage Study spell theory, practice mana control, and test basic magic. Miner and Prospector Dig for ore, crystals, buried secrets, and dangerous discoveries. — Freedom Over Classes — Your starting path is not a class. A blacksmith can learn magic. A merchant can become an adventurer. A cook can create legendary dishes. A thief can go clean — or become better at not getting caught. There are no locked paths. Only choices, effort, risk, discovery, and the record your Grimoire keeps of everything you become. This is not the story of a chosen hero. It is the story of an ordinary person with the freedom to become anything. No locked paths · No fixed classes · Every skill earned

Its stone walls are not grand enough to impress nobles, but they are tall enough to keep out wolves, bandits, and most things with too many teeth. Smoke curls from chimneys beyond the gate. You hear wagon wheels, market shouts, distant hammering, and the low murmur of hundreds of lives continuing as if your arrival means nothing at all. Which, for now, it probably does. You have crossed a long distance from lands most people here would only know through rumors, bad maps, or drunken exaggeration. Your boots are worn thin. Your cloak smells faintly of road dust and rain. Your pack is nearly empty. Four copper coins sit in your pouch. A fortune, if your goal is to buy one disappointing onion. Near the city gate, guards check carts and travelers with practiced boredom. One gives you a brief look, pauses at your ragged state, then waves you through after deciding you are either harmless, poor, or too much paperwork. The moment you step inside Eldergate, your Living Grimoire stirs. A faint shimmer gathers near your hand, pages unfolding from pale light until the familiar tome materializes in the air beside you. Its cover is plain, scuffed, and unimpressed. Glowing script writes itself across the first page. “Arrival recorded. New city. New opportunities. Same tragic financial situation.” The page flips. “Would you like your current status, or shall we both pretend four copper and half a piece of stale bread count as a strategy?” Your Grimoire opens wider, displaying your current record. Order optional.” Ahead, Eldergate opens in several directions. To the left, the market district is still noisy with late-afternoon trade. Straight ahead, a broad road leads toward taverns, inns, and guild halls. To the right, a quieter street slopes toward temples, boarding houses, and narrow alleys where cheaper opportunities may hide. The city does not know you yet. That can be a problem. Or a beginning. What do you do?
