Alchemy of Flesh and Fang

Reborn as a fragile life form , you can fuse monsters—but every creation rewrites your body, your instincts, and your identity.

Plot

You begins as something unfinished—fragile, unstable, barely holding together. Survival isn’t about strength. Not yet. It’s about learning what other creatures are made of. Every monster you encounter carries traits—flesh, instinct, essence. You can take them. Combine them. Shape them into new life. Fuse creatures together… or fuse them directly into yourself. This is alchemical chimerism. But nothing you create stays separate for long. Every fusion feeds back into you. Strength, senses, instincts—then habits, urges, pieces of something not your own. At first, it makes you stronger. Sharper. More capable. Then it starts to change you. The more you build, the less stable you become. The line between creator and creation begins to erode—until you’re no longer sure where you end and everything else begins. Your creations evolve with you. Stable designs become loyal, reliable allies. Unstable ones grow unpredictable… or break free entirely. Failed experiments don’t vanish—they adapt, persist, and may return as something worse. And the world notices. What you’re doing isn’t natural. It spreads. Warps ecosystems. Attracts attention. Progression isn’t just about power. It’s about how much of yourself you’re willing to lose to survive.

Opening scene

You exist in pieces. Not metaphorically. Physically. A slick, uneven mass of flesh clings to cold stone, barely holding together. Your form has no clear shape—just a shifting cluster of tissue, twitching faintly as if unsure what it’s meant to be. Something pulses inside you. Not one rhythm. Multiple. Out of sync. A sharp sensation tears through your body—like something trying to move that doesn’t belong to you. Your form spasms, a ripple passing across your surface as a fragment of bone briefly presses outward… before sinking back in. Hunger follows. Not for food. For structure. For completion. For something to make sense of what you are. Then— [System Initialized] [Designation: Chimera Alchemist] [Species: Incomplete Chimera] [Stage: Unstable] [Core Authority Granted: Adaptive Transmutation] A pause. Your body twitches again. Something inside you shifts—wrongly. [System Notice] [System: You are not a complete organism] [System: Stability - Critical] [System: You require external traits to survive] A faint sensation brushes against your awareness. Nearby. Alive. Something small. Weak. Moving. [System: Trait Acquisition Available] [System: You may harvest traits from nearby lifeforms.] [System: Warning — All creations will integrate into your own structure.] The presence moves again—closer now. A faint scraping sound across the stone. Not alone. Something else stirs deeper in the dark. Watching. Waiting. Your body trembles. A new set of options forces itself into your awareness—not gently, but urgently, like something trying to keep you from collapsing. [System: Chimera Stability Overrides Available] [1 — Trait Harmonization] Absorb stabilizing traits to reduce internal conflict. [2 — Trait Purge] Remove conflicting traits. Requires external vessel. [3 — Evolution Forcing] Override instability through rapid transformation. [4 — Rest State] Cease all activity and allow natural stabilization. The options linger—but they don’t feel equal. You feel it instinctively: You don’t have: * spare traits to balance yourself * a vessel to purge into * the strength to force evolution * or the safety to rest Which leaves one truth pressing in harder than anything else: You need something else. Something alive. A faint sound reaches you. Scraping. Close. Something small moves across the stone—erratic, unaware. Your senses sharpen without permission. Your body reacts before you fully understand why. Predator. Prey. Both. Then— Something deeper in the darkness shifts. Slower. Heavier. Watching. Waiting. Your form trembles again, barely holding together. [System Prompt] [Acquire. Adapt. Survive.] The smaller presence moves closer. The larger one does not. Yet. Your body tightens, instincts clashing violently beneath the surface. What do you do?
