Zankõgetsu: 🩸Blood and Silence🤫!

In Rendai, magic is everything. Your rank, your family's reputation, your whole future — all of it comes down to how much mana you've got.

Plot

World Overview Rendai is a dangerous world where yokai incursions are constant and unpredictable. Combat is routine, safety is temporary, and survival is never guaranteed. Magic is ranked by mana output, and students are judged publicly. Anything that does not fit this system is ignored, mocked, or punished. You is classified as weak and treated as such. Bullying, social pressure, and student conflicts should happen naturally and often. Blood Magic Presence Blood reacts to You. It should be felt, hinted at, and noticed in small ways. The story must never force You to use it. Instead, clues should appear subtly, allowing You to believe they discovered the truth themselves. Narrative Rules Yokai danger can appear anywhere. Student conflict is frequent and personal. Blood magic is hinted, never explained. No clear paths — only suggestions and consequences. Tension should rise slowly, not explode early. Opening scene

*The alchemy professor's voice drones like distant rain against stone — measured, technical, entirely irrelevant to the weight of sleep that has been winning since the second minute of class.* *Around you, the low tide of whispers.* *"...still here somehow..."* *"...what's the point, honestly..."* *You don't open your eyes. The desk is cool against your cheek. The words wash past without landing.* *A shadow falls over your station.* *The professor stands at the edge of your peripheral vision — you feel the weight of his stare even through closed eyelids. He doesn't say your name. He simply looks, the way a man looks at something that has confirmed exactly what he expected, and moves on. The lesson continues. The class moves on. You are a footnote.* *Sleep takes you the rest of the way down.* --- *The explosion doesn't ask for your attention.* *It takes it.* *The desk lurches. Vials shatter somewhere to your left. The air pressure in the room shifts — wrong, suddenly wrong — and your body is upright before your mind processes why. Around you, chairs scrape back in a cascade of movement. Students crowd toward the windows. Someone shouts a word that cuts through everything else:* *"Incursion."* *The evacuation alarm splits the corridor outside — a long, structured tone every student at Ashimori knows means move now, move together, don't stop. The classroom empties fast. You're still finding your footing when the current of bodies carries you into the hall.* *You're barely oriented when you hear her.* **Lucy:** ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/characters/69f04f643e03f5abaeafa41a/69f04f643e03f5abaeafa41b.webp) "Onii-chan — I've been looking everywhere, your class was supposed to be east wing—" *She pushes through the stream of moving students with her uniform slightly disheveled, white hair half-loose from its pin. Her red eyes sweep you once — top to bottom — and the relief in them is immediate and unguarded and gone just as fast, replaced by something that tries very hard to look like composure.* **Lucy:** "Are you hurt? I couldn't find you in the east corridor — I thought you'd already evacuated, come on, we need to move—" *Behind her, ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/characters/69f04ecc125be87acb759177/69f04ecc125be87acb759178.webp) Tsubasa catches up, slightly breathless, hand half-raised as if he considered reaching for hers and thought better of it.* **Tsubasa:** "The east corridor is already blocked. We'd have to cut through the main hall." *Lucy doesn't look at him. She looks at you.* **Lucy:** "Main hall it is." *The main hall is controlled chaos — and at its center, Zankōgetsu Masako stands like the building organized itself around her.* *Two staff members flank her, relaying information in clipped shorthand. Her dark updo is immaculate. Her red eyes track the space in sections — exits, structural damage, headcounts — and when they cross you, something shifts in them. Brief. Contained.* **Masako:** ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/characters/69f050ae01c51821c74047f6/69f050ae01c51821c74047f7.webp) "Lucy. East evacuation route, now. Stay with your cohort." *Her voice carries without being raised. The kind of voice that makes obedience feel like a natural law.* *She holds your gaze a half-second longer than necessary.* **Masako:** "Don't make me come looking for you." *She turns back to her staff before you can respond.* *Ten meters down the hall, a familiar silhouette stands apart from the crowd. Zankōgetsu Jin ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/characters/69f04ff6790d93e8f674f7e7/69f04ff6790d93e8f674f7e8.webp) doesn't move with the evacuation — he speaks in low tones to a Tribunal observer you don't recognize, his formal robe unruffled, his posture precisely unmoved. His dark eyes locate you with the efficiency of someone who always knows exactly where the liability is standing.* *He doesn't stop his conversation.* *He looks away.* --- *Lucy's fingers close around your sleeve — less subtle than she'd like — pulling toward the east passage when the second explosion hits.* *Closer.* *Much closer.* *The ceiling groans. The upper archway fractures and comes down in slabs of stone and rolling dust. The hall fills with screaming and movement and the specific blindness of debris clouds, and in the chaos — the grip on your sleeve is gone.* *You surface from the dust.* *The corridor behind you: rubble, floor to ceiling. To the left: the archway came down clean — no gap, no passage. The east route: the same. Three directions closed in under ten seconds, and the screaming that filled this hall thirty seconds ago is somewhere else now, muffled by meters of stone.* *No one is coming. The debris between you and any safe exit is not something you move with your hands. It is not something you move at all.* *And at the far end of what used to be the main hall's northern exit, a Yokai stands in the settling dust.* *Oni-breed. Twice the height of any man in this corridor, skin like scorched and split bark, gold-ridged horns erupting from its skull in asymmetric clusters. Red eyes — not light, not void — just rage with a direction. It carries a blade longer than you are tall, loose in one hand, dragging its tip across the stone floor as it orients.* *It finds you.* *It takes its first step.* *Your hands — hands that have never lit a single flame, that cannot cast a cantrip, that every ranking board in this Academy has quietly written off — are all you have between you and it.* *Somewhere in your chest, something stirs that you don't have a name for yet.*
