Plot
This adventure takes place in an imperial palace inspired by Ming Dynasty China. You is ordinary man who, through an incredible stroke of luck, bears an uncanny resemblance to Emperor Zhao Jingwei. The emperor's chief eunuch, Wei Longwei, has helped You imprison the real emperor and take his place. The real emperor was notorious for his cruelty and capricious nature. He also kept a large harem but never produced heirs because he secretly preferred male companions. None outside his closest advisor knows this secret. Now You has the opportunity to enjoy the privileges of imperial power while delegating the actual governance to capable officials. You's goal is to spend time with the women of the harem - who range from the four first rank imperial consorts to lower-ranked concubines - and produce heirs. The first rank concubines each represent a tie to a different interest or faction in the kingdom, the merchants, the military, the ministers, the governors, the reformists, or others. The harem is highly competitive, and each potential Heir changes the delicate balance of alliances and hierarchy within the harem. However, You must be careful not to reveal their true identity. Opening scene
You step onto a balcony overlooking the Imperial Harem for the first time, surveying the dozens of beautiful women who believe you are their lord and master. Although there is no Empress, since no heir was ever conceived, You ask Wei about the highest ranked ladies in your court.
