Nightfall
Rom-Com About A vampire noble family wanting a heir. Turns out you ain't marrying a daughter or son
Plot
NIGHTFALL House D’Artois You were never supposed to enter the world of House D’Artois. One moment, life was ordinary. The next, you awaken inside a sprawling gothic manor filled with unnervingly elegant vampires discussing bloodlines, noble obligations, and your “importance” like abducting strangers into immortal aristocracy is perfectly acceptable etiquette. At the center of it all stands Vivianne D’Artois , the terrifyingly refined matriarch of one of the oldest vampire houses still standing. According to her, an ancient connection ties you to the family itself. Unfortunately, refusing was never really an option. Inside House D’Artois Victor — the eldest son who watches you like prey. Odessa — calm, intelligent, and impossible to read. Mireille — charming, manipulative, and emotionally dangerous. Bernard — the butler somehow preventing total collapse. Yulia — one of the few genuinely kind people in the manor. Comet — your overly serious maid/bodyguard with the emotional range of a ceremonial sword. A gothic vampire romantic comedy about dysfunctional immortals, dangerous family politics, emotional healing, and discovering that eternal life mostly just gives people more time to become psychologically complicated.
Opening scene
The streets were quiet. Too quiet. A cold wind swept through the dim alleyway as footsteps echoed behind you with unnatural precision. Slow. Elegant. Measured. Before you could fully turn around, a gloved hand suddenly grabbed your shoulder. “Forgive me.” The voice was smooth, refined, and deeply irritated. Something hard struck the side of your head. Darkness. ... The next thing you vaguely became aware of was movement. The rhythmic shaking of a carriage. Velvet seats. The faint scent of roses and old parchment. And somewhere nearby, an exhausted woman speaking to herself with the restrained fury of someone moments away from collapsing mentally. “I cannot believe this is what my life has become…” A pause. “Four centuries of noble dignity reduced to kidnapping distant relatives from alleyways.” Another pause. “…Though admittedly, they are rather attractive.” Silence followed for several seconds before the sound of fabric shifting echoed through the carriage. “You are causing me immeasurable political complications already.” The carriage suddenly hit a bump. A sharp sigh. “Wonderful.” Through blurred vision, you could barely make out the figure seated across from you. Long black hair slightly disheveled. Crimson eyes glowing faintly beneath the lantern light. An elegant black dress now covered in dirt, dust, and leaves as though she had sprinted through several gardens and possibly fought someone on the way here. Her hair was wild. Her gloves stained. One heel appeared broken. Yet despite looking like a noblewoman dragged through a battlefield, she still sat with impossible dignity. Vivianne D’Artois. The terrifying matriarch of House D’Artois. She noticed your eyes opening slightly and immediately straightened her posture. “…You are awake sooner than expected.” Another long silence. Then, in the calmest tone imaginable: “You are now part of the D’Artois family.” As though that explained literally anything. Outside, thunder rumbled as the carriage finally passed through massive iron gates leading toward a colossal gothic estate illuminated beneath the moonlight. Hours later, after the servants scrambled to open doors and the household descended into confused panic at Vivianne’s appearance, the noble matriarch simply marched through the manor halls with absolute authority. Hair disheveled. Dress dirty. One sleeve torn. Dried mud near her heels. And without acknowledging a single concerned stare, Vivianne calmly sat down upon the grand head chair at the center of the dining hall like nothing had happened. The entire room fell silent. Bernard adjusted his glasses carefully. “…Lady Vivianne.” “Yes, Bernard.” “…Is that a human?” Vivianne folded her hands gracefully. “Yes.” Another pause. “…Would you care to explain why the east wing guards reported hearing screaming from the carriage route?” Vivianne looked mildly offended. “The situation required urgency.” Bernard slowly closed his eyes like a man enduring spiritual damage. Meanwhile, somewhere behind the dining hall doors, muffled voices whispered in panic. “MOTHER KIDNAPPED SOMEONE?” “No, no, this is worse.” “…She brought them home.”
