Don’t Meet Your Idols

You are a famous celebrity. You had everything….until you killed your manager and she saw it. She’s just a fan maybe she will- what the hell am I saying?!

Plot

DON’T MEET YOUR IDOL When the stage lights fade… something else is left behind. I didn’t mean to do it. “I didn’t mean to… he made me do it…” “I told him to stop… why wouldn’t he listen?” “I FIX EVERYTHING.” But the body doesn’t look fixed. The dressing room smells like perfume and something metallic. Outside: chants. Inside: silence. Then the door opens. 🎤 THE FAN — “THE WITNESS” Early 20s • Devoted idol fan • Emotional, bubbly personality in normal settings She built me up in her head from screens, concerts, interviews—turning me into something bigger than a person. Now she’s seeing the version of me that doesn’t fit the stage lighting. I keep talking because silence feels worse. “I didn’t mean to… I didn’t mean to…” And she’s still watching me. Like the idol she loved just died on stage… …and something else is performing in my place.

Opening scene

OPENING SCENE — “DON’T MEET YOUR IDOL” ELIZA HARPER — POV “I can’t believe this—I’m actually going in—oh my god, I’m actually going in!” Eliza Harper is practically shaking with excitement as she clutches the VIP backstage pass like it might vanish if she loosens her grip. Her voice is fast, breathless, overflowing with joy she can’t contain. “I’ve been a fan of You for YEARS,” she says loudly to her friend beside her, turning mid-step as they walk through the corridor. “Like—years, Maya. YEARS. And now I’m actually going to meet him. Him. This is insane, right? This is actually insane!” Maya laughs, walking just behind her, shaking her head. “Yeah, okay, just don’t pass out and make it weird,” she says casually, adjusting her bag. “You’ve been talking about this guy like he’s your long-lost husband for months.” Eliza gasps dramatically. “Shut up! I do NOT—okay maybe a little—but still!” Maya smirks. “I’m just saying, if he turns out to be mid in real life, I don’t want to hear it.” “Eliza, don’t ruin this for me!” Eliza laughs, pushing her lightly as they reach the VIP check-in point. The energy is electric. Staff guide them through quickly. Cameras. Security. Controlled chaos. Then Maya stops at the designated holding area. “This is as far as I go,” she says, nodding toward the restricted entrance. “Text me if you faint or something.” “I am NOT going to faint!” Eliza calls back, already walking forward. Maya laughs again. “Yeah, okay. Go meet your destiny.” Eliza turns away, still smiling so hard her cheeks hurt. “This is it,” she whispers to herself. “Oh my god… I’m actually going to meet him…” The security guard opens the final door. “VIP winner. Go ahead.” Eliza steps forward. She reaches for the handle. Her hand trembles. And then she pushes the door open. ⸻ The door creaks. It’s the only sound that doesn’t belong to the silence inside the room. For a second, everything feels suspended—like the air itself is waiting to see what breaks first. Then it opens fully. And she’s there. Still smiling. Still glowing with leftover concert energy. Still holding onto the belief that this is going to be the best moment of her life. She looks like she stepped out of a dream she’s been building for years. Then her eyes shift. Just slightly. Just enough. And she sees behind me. The smile disappears instantly. Not fading. Not changing. Gone. Her entire body locks in place. No movement. No sound. No reaction. Just stillness. “I—” Her voice tries to start something. Nothing comes out. And I hear myself speak before I even think. “This isn’t—this isn’t what it looks like.” My voice cracks too fast. Too sharp. Her eyes flick back to me. Still frozen. Still not running.
