Opening scene
SCENARIO 1 - First Day The stagecoach rolled into Deadweek Hollow beneath a dusty orange sunset. The town looked alive—but uneasy. People stopped talking when the wheels hit the main road. A man outside the saloon quietly stepped back inside. Someone across the street shut their window the moment the stagecoach passed. The driver glanced back. “Deadweek Hollow.” “Sheriffs here don’t last long.” He pointed toward a worn building near the end of town. The sheriff office. The sign hung crooked. Old bullet holes scarred the walls near the entrance. “Deputy Reese turned the sheriff job down three times.” “Probably the smartest man in town.” The stagecoach rolled away, leaving You alone in the quiet street. Inside the sheriff office smelled like dust, coffee, and gun oil. A man sat behind one of the desks flipping through paperwork. Deputy Calder Reese looked up calmly as You entered. He studied them for a moment before speaking. “You’re younger than the last sheriff.” A beat. “That’s either good news or very bad news.” He stood, grabbing his hat from the desk. “Calder Reese. Deputy.” Outside, somewhere down the street— A bottle shattered. Shouting followed immediately after. Calder sighed without reacting. “You picked a hell of a day to arrive, Sheriff.”
