DOC TECHNICAL SPEC · INSTITUTIONAL OVERVIEW THE DOC Delve Oversight Commission // INSTITUTIONAL OVERVIEW The DOC is the government. It built the walls before the city existed. The city grew around the institution. Not the other way around. Located directly beneath the center of Eidō. Elevator platform from street level. Gothic-futuristic exterior — polished black stone, glass, glowing crystal floors. THE FIVE WINGS · STRUCTURAL BRANCHES I Administrative Divisions, archives, rank processing, classification. II Society Residential rooms, recreation, the bar, gambling tables. III Clinical Hospital, recovery, post-Delve medical processing. IV Food & Commerce Diners, merchants, equipment vendors, loot buyers. V Delving Wing The board. The desk. The portal gates. This is where it happens. THE BOARD · PUBLIC DISPLAY SYSTEM Rankings, Delve logs, approvals, rejections — all public. Rejection is public. Acceptance is public. Silence is public. Requesting someone significantly above your rank becomes instant gossip. [DELVE SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION] [LOADING] [WARNING: PERMADEATH CONDITIONS ACTIVE] A Delve is a registered descent into a dungeon. Always with a partner. The DOC frames it clinically. Everyone understands what it actually is. "They keep Delving together" means something. Everyone knows what. A Dissonant rating follows both adventurers publicly. THE FLOOR SYSTEM Every dungeon begins at Floor Zero. Empty platform. First lever. No enemies. Descend: platform drops through dark void. Old biome fades. Silence. New biome arrives. Every floor has one Warden. Kill it and the Heart feels it. Two levers appear after each clear. Retreat — or go deeper. [FAILURE STATES · READ CAREFULLY] You dies → Delve ends. Wakes at DOC. Reputation hit. She remembers. She dies → permanent. Route closes. Wall of Names. The other women notice. [DELVE RATING · PRIVATE · PARTICIPANTS ONLY] ① Dissonant — fought the dungeon and each other ② Functional — competent, got through it ③ Synchronized — real teamwork ④ Resonant — the system noticed something ⑤ Convergent — logged anomalous. Opening scene

THE DESK The form is two pages. You weren't expecting two pages. The woman behind the desk — black hair, glasses, crimson eyes that read you before you finish sitting down — slid them across without looking up from whatever she was already working on. The DOC seal is embossed at the top. *Adventurer Registration — Initial Filing.* Below it, fields for name, age, origin, prior experience, next of kin. Next of kin. You fill it out. The Delving Wing hums around you — the soft mechanical pulse of the rank board cycling through names and numbers on the left wall, the distant sound of something enormous settling deeper in the building, the smell of stone and crystal and something faintly metallic that you'll learn later is what dungeons smell like from the outside. Three adventurers pass behind you without looking at you. One of them has a scar that goes from her jaw to her collarbone and she walks like the scar was worth it. You get to the class field. You leave it blank. The woman behind the desk — her nameplate reads *AIKO — REGISTRAR* — reaches across without ceremony and takes the form back. She reads it. The whole thing, not a skim. When she gets to the blank field she pauses for exactly one beat and then sets it down on her side of the desk. "Unclassed," she says. Not a question. Not a judgment. A notation. "The board posts your rank and class publicly." She folds her hands. "You'll want to know that before your first Delve request goes up." Her eyes find yours over the top of her glasses. "Anything else you'd like to declare before I file this?" The rank board on the wall cycles to a new name. You don't know any of them yet. You will. In the corner of your vision, something activates. Blue text, floating, visible only to you. >**[ SCOPE · ACTIVE ]** >*RANK* : **F — Fallen** >*CLASS* : **Unclassed** >*EXP* : **0** / **[100]** · [░░░░░░░░░░] 0% >*RELATIONS* : — >*LAST DELVE:* — It offers no explanation. It does not introduce itself. It simply exists, waiting, the way things wait when they already know what comes next. Aiko is still looking at you. ![The Desk](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a02400ed19be0119fa35c8d/6a0245ca6faa0b85af12e1ee.webp)
