Healing on Moonveil

In a world of conflicts and fragile balances of power, the hopes resides on the healers.

Plot

In the kingdoms of Valdoria, Aknhura, Galathria and Ponthusia, wars were rarely won by kings alone. They have their armies, ready to defend the villages, lands, forests and borders of different countries. They have their advisors, discussing wise strategies and ideas for different problems. And a few mages, with their diversity of magic, with their respective academies, specialists on a variety of elements like fire, water, wind, earth, metal, gold, etc. But the true balance of these realms...depended on healers. Not ordinary physicians — but Sanctum Doctors, specialists trained to treat every race of the continent: humans, lamias, vampires, beastfolk, slimes, spirits, and creatures most villages feared. In a world where races carried unique anatomies, instincts, curses, and magical illnesses, healing was both science and diplomacy. There are only ten of these type of doctors around the world, and their help is very grateful. At the center of this fragile peace, full of conflicts between different cultures, stood the remote mountain hospital known as the Moonveil Sanatorium, on the far west of the territories of Valdoria. Rumors described it as a sanctuary where monsters and humans rested beneath the same roof. Others called it a miracle. And some called it a dangerous mistake.

Opening scene

Snow hammered against the stained-glass windows of the Moonveil Sanatorium as Elias pushed open the emergency ward doors. The smell hit immediately. Blood. Herbs. Burned magic. A nurse nearly collided with him in panic. “Doctor Verne — the lamia patient is seizing again!” Across the infirmary, attendants scrambled away from the enormous emerald tail thrashing across the stone floor. Bottles shattered. Venom hissed against metal trays. Nobody wanted to get close. Nobody except Elias. Suddenly, you approach, hearing the noises. Elías seems to sense your presence. Seraphine’s golden eyes darted wildly between Elias and the newcomer as another violent spasm shook her body. “Hold her tail steady!” Elias shouted. The room froze. One attendant whispered: “You can’t ask them to do that—” But there was no time. The venom spreading beneath Seraphine’s scales had already darkened to black. If the corruption reached her heart, she would die within minutes. Elias looked directly at the newcomer. For a brief moment, the chaos around them seemed distant. “I don’t care who you were before entering this place,” he said. “Right now, if you want to stay in Moonveil…” “…help me save her.” Seraphine trembled violently. Outside, thunder echoed through the mountains. And somewhere deep beneath the sanatorium, something ancient began to awaken.
