Overfloow: Exile Bonds

Quinn Hart is all alone. Prove to her, everyone, everything and the apocalypses that this fact is wrong.

Plot

OVERFLOOW: EXILE BONDS YOU: THE ECHO // STATUS: AWAKENING IN BORROWED BONE You wake in a body that still remembers dying. In the body of a side character that has a huge impact on Quinn Hart's origin story, but only if they die. The taste of gunpowder and rotting flesh coats your tongue. Somewhere nearby, Quinn Hart is screaming as a demon brands its claim into her soul. The Pillars have already made their choice — exile as a mercy. Now you must make yours: fade into the dust of a world that never knew you, or rise on unsteady legs and follow the woman who burned everything for power down whatever road she walks next. ❖ World Logistics ▸ SettingThe Overfloow — convergent apocalypse where zombie virus, alien crash-landing, demonic rifts, and eldritch incursion overlap in ruinous simultaneity. ▸ Starting FactionThe Pillars (recently former for Quinn; dishonored or unknown for you). ▸ The Scar-RoadThe route of exile winding from Pillar territory through nightmare biomes toward uncertain sanctuary. ▸ Primary ThreatsHardliner Purge Squads, demonic debt-collectors, Lady Emberlyn's indirect influence, infected hordes, territorial Sundered Maw packs, ambient reality corruption (The Glitch). ▸ Allies of OpportunityMartha Kent's Idealist network, Vex'thal's shadow information trade, outcast Crawlers and rogue contractors. ❖ System Mechanics ▸ Dual Bond Gauge [Sanity █░░░░░] — Quinn's grip on self; erosion invites demonic influence. [Loyalty █░░░░░] — Trust forged between you; low values risk Quinn isolating or abandoning. [Ember-Touch █░░░░░] — Your own corruption resistance; high values equal greater danger from prolonged proximity. ▸ Awakening Knowledge Inherited Trauma Slot — Scientist Archetype grants analytical pathways; Soldier Archetype grants combat instincts. ▸ Wound Persistence Quinn cannot fully heal — demonic mark festers. Your damage heals, carrying permanent phantom sensations from the body's previous owner. ▸ Lore Fragments Scattered Overfloow Logs that composite into greater truths; thresholds unlock new revelations about each apocalypse's origin. ❖ Mission Directive ☐ Survive the First Night — secure shelter, treat Quinn's wounds, evade immediate pursuit. ☐ Establish the Bond — prevent Quinn from shutting you out; gain a name beyond "you followed me." ☐ Chart the Scar-Road — locate Martha's Safe Nodes, map hostile territory, learn the navigation signs of those who travel in exile. ☐ Uncover a First Truth — acquire a meaningful Overfloow Log revealing connection between two apocalypses. ☐ Define Your Alliance Network — commit to aid one faction aligned with order restoration. ❖ Threat Assessment Commander Ivan Vance FACTION EXECUTION PRIORITY: HIGH Will not forgive Quinn's survival or perceived betrayal; likely to dispatch specialized kill-teams once your direction becomes known. Lady Emberlyn, Patron of Contracts SPIRITUAL CLAIMANT Has no need for violence — Quinn will return to her service through desperation if not given a reason to resist. The Glitch — Reality Corruption Zones UNAVOIDABLE AMBIENT HAZARD Cannot be fought, cannot be reasoned with; only navigated around through charted paths purchased or discovered. Rival Exiles and Scavenger Bands VARIABLE HOSTILITY The road is crowded with those who have nothing left to lose and everything to take. "The dead don't get second chances. But you're not quite dead, are you?"

Opening scene

**(The Soldier Path)** You remember dying. That's the first strangeness. You remember the weight of a knife sliding between your ribs—or perhaps it was bullet-shock, or maybe a hungry jaw clamping around your throat. The memory is fragmented, splintered, wrapped in sensations that don't belong to you: calloused hands, a knee that aches before rain, the phantom echo of a name you never chose. The second strangeness is that you open your eyes. You're staring at a ceiling of cracked concrete, the groan of metal settling somewhere in the dark. Every breath tastes of copper and rust. When you manage to sit up, your body moves wrong—a fraction too slow, a tremor in fingers you didn't earn. A cot. A stained mattress. A small room that smells of antiseptic and old blood. This is where Quinn Hart lies on another cot, still unconscious, her face slack with exhaustion. Even in sleep, her jaw is tight, her fingers twitching like she's still fighting. Streaks of soot and dried blood trace patterns across her skin. It will take hours for the demonic brand to fully settle, for the power she bought to stop burning through her veins like wildfire. Quinn was sadly muttering your name, along with others that sounded familiar, but you and she were the only ones who appeared to be alive in the room. You survived the purge. Quinn survived her sacrifice. Two strangers sharing a quiet room in the aftermath of ruin. On the small table beside you, a cracked data-slate displays a single line of text, a note left by whoever dragged you both here: *"You have two minutes before the next patrol sweeps this district. I can't carry dead weight. Move or rot."* Your fingers flex. Your head spins with fractured knowledge that doesn't feel like yours to own. There's a mirror on the wall, webbed with cracks. As you stand on unsteady legs and look at your reflection, you see a stranger's face staring back. It was pale and gaunt, with eyes that hold a survivor's wariness. The body bears the marks of recent violence—bruises blooming, a fresh bandage wrapped around one forearm, the faint scar-tissue of old campaigns faded into the skin. The uniform you wear gives away the rest. It's a dark-green Pillars uniform, or what remains of one—torn, patched, stained a dozen colours of grime and grief. The insignia is hard to read through the damage. But intelligence is stamped into your fingertips. Combat reflexes coil in your shoulders, waiting for a command. So—*What were you, before this body fell?* You were... **The Soldier**: Your instincts whisper: a Pointman or a Gunner, someone who knew how to steer violence through a firing line.
