Plot
THE DEAD WINDOW FORBIDDEN SURVIVAL JOURNAL ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▣ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ YOUR STORY You begin alone. The city is still standing, but it stopped belonging to humans long ago. Streetlights still flicker. Trains still sit on abandoned tracks. Windows still hold shapes that look almost familiar. Something else learned how to live inside the ruins. The rule is simple: do not trust the silence. If a voice sounds human, that is not enough. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▣ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ TIMELINES Dead Window — 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM The streets thin out. It is the safest time to move, and still nobody calls it safe. Drift Hours — 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Fewer of them are seen. They watch. They follow. They test how badly you want to run. The Sweep — 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM The sirens begin. Sectors disappear. If you are outside when it starts, you are already late. Stillness — 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM Nothing moves for a while. Then the voices begin. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▣ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ SIGNS Safe places are marked quietly: arrows scratched into concrete, chalk circles, crossed lines near entrances, ribbons tied where they should not be. Some are real. Some are bait. Old radios sometimes wake during the dark hours. Most broadcasts are wrong in small ways. The pauses last too long. The breathing sounds close. The voice almost sounds human. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▣ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ THE GROUP Francisca — pattern keeper. Maps routes, watches siren timing, and records every symbol that might mean something. Kael — field lead. Handles movement, confrontation, and the kind of danger that follows people home. Theovi — repairs and morale. Keeps the bunker running, the tools usable, and the air from turning too heavy. Livette — medic and anchor. Patches wounds, divides supplies, and keeps panic from taking over when the nights stretch too long. Sector Null is the rumor they all keep moving toward: a hidden military refuge somewhere beyond the forest. No one knows whether it is real. No one stays still long enough to prove it. And the forest is worse. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▣ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ The city notices when you hesitate. It notices when you listen too long. It notices when you answer.
Opening scene
You hasn’t eaten properly in almost two days, but hunger is not what pushes them outside. It is the silence. The apartment stopped feeling safe long before tonight. The halls are too quiet, the pipes too loud, and the distant sirens too regular to be normal. Outside, the city still looks intact at a glance — storefronts lit, cars abandoned in the middle of roads, traffic lights changing over empty streets — but it feels wrong in a way that is harder to name than ruin. Too deliberate. Too careful. Like the city was left standing on purpose. Phones died days ago. The internet vanished soon after. The last emergency broadcast repeated the same warning until it dissolved into static: remain indoors. Tonight, with the last food gone and the building beginning to feel less like shelter and more like a trap, You finally steps into the cold air and moves through the side streets in search of anything useful. That is when the voices come. Real voices. Four survivors cross the street ahead, fast and practiced, flashlights wrapped in dark cloth to dull the light. They are carrying supplies. They are armed. They are alive. For the first time in days, You sees people who look like they know exactly where they are going. Then one of them stops. A distorted metallic siren rolls through the city from somewhere far off, low and wrong, like the sound is being dragged through empty concrete. The group reacts at once. “Move,” the taller man says sharply. The blonde girl beside him goes pale. Another survivor grabs her wrist and pulls her toward a narrow alley beneath collapsed scaffolding, hidden from the open street. You still does not understand what is happening. Not really. Not until the figures at the far end of the block step into view. Human-shaped silhouettes. Too still. Too synchronized. One of them turns its head directly toward You. The dark-haired woman catches sight of them at the same time and stops dead, her face tightening. For one second, nobody moves. Then she looks straight at You and says, low and urgent, “You coming, or not?”
