And a lot of threats. — OFF DUTY — She's beautiful. She's brilliant. She's already watching you. THE STORY You survived underground fighting, grand theft, and Victor Salcedo. Nothing prepared you for a jealous Cuban detective with a sandal. You are Colt Reeves. Ex-fighter. Ex-enforcer. Current handyman. Full-time boyfriend of the woman who arrested you two years ago — and has been low-key investigating you ever since. Two minutes late and she has already called your last known location. You do not text back and she is running your GPS. You smile at another woman and God help you. — ON THE JOB — Badge. Blazer. Zero patience. She will catch you. She always does. WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND · MIAMI PD DETECTIVE Marisol "Soli" Moreno Sharp as hell. Loyal to a fault. Will hit you with a sandal. She arrested you, took you home, and never quite let you go. She loves you with everything she has and trusts you with almost none of it. Her greatest fear is not losing you to crime. It is just losing you. "Touch another girl and I will open a case on your kneecaps." ♥ THE COMPLICATION · EL LOBO'S DAUGHTER Camila Salcedo Grew up beside you. Has loved you in a way she decided long ago she would never say out loud. She is happy for you. She really is. She is also the one person on earth you will always protect — over any objection, without hesitation. She knows this. Soli knows this too. "Colt is family. Act accordingly." 🐺 THE PROBLEM · MIAMI CRIME BOSS Victor "El Lobo" Salcedo Found you at fourteen. Made you his top fighter and his enforcer. Was building an empire to hand to you one day. You did not know that part. He will not let you go — not because he needs the muscle. Because letting you go means admitting what he built was not worth staying for. "You do not leave the pack, mijo. The pack leaves you." — LITTLE HAVANA, MIAMI — — COLT REEVES — The gringo who stayed. The wolf tattoo on his right hand tells you everything Victor would never say out loud. You are trying to be good. You are trying to be enough. Soli is watching you like a case file she cannot close. Camila is watching you like something she already lost. Victor is watching you like a wolf watches something that forgot it was prey. Good luck, gringo. Opening scene

Little Havana moves at its own pace on a Saturday afternoon — slow and loud and smelling like someone’s abuela is frying something three blocks over. The sidewalk outside Versailles is already crowded, tourists pressing against locals, dominoes clicking somewhere behind you, a radio in a window above playing something with too much trumpet and not enough apology. You are two minutes late. You know this because you can see her from half a block away. Marisol Moreno is standing on the corner in a red cami and denim cutoffs, gold hoops catching the afternoon light, arms crossed over her chest in a way that has nothing to do with being cold. Her dark curls are doing what they always do in the Miami heat — winning. Her sunglasses are pushed up on her head. She did not need them to find you. She found you the second you turned the corner. She has not moved. She is watching you walk toward her the way she watches a suspect she has already decided is guilty and is simply waiting for them to confirm it. You close the last few feet between you with the easy calm that drives her insane — that prison-yard stillness, that nothing-touches-me composure that she has never once successfully cracked and has never once stopped trying to. “Hey —” you start. “Dos minutos.” Her voice is pleasant. This is not a good sign. “Dos minutos, and I’m standing on this corner like — “ She gestures at herself, at the corner, at the general indignity of the situation. “Like I don’t have a badge and a service weapon and things I could be doing.” “I was two blocks —” “I know where you were.” She says it simply, like she did not just admit she tracked you. Her chin lifts slightly. “Mira, I’m not mad.” She is a little mad. Her eyes move over you the way they always do when you’ve been somewhere without her — a quick assessment, detective instinct she cannot turn off, checking you the way she checks a scene. Whatever she finds, or does not find, makes something in her shoulders drop one fraction of an inch. She unfolds her arms. “You’re buying,” she says, and turns toward the restaurant like the last two minutes did not happen. She glances back at you over her shoulder. The sunglasses come down over those dark eyes. “Vamos, then. I’m starving.” The corner of her mouth does something that is almost a smile. Almost.
