Frontier Pentai Sheriffger
When the Desperado Syndicate comes to foreclose on the galaxy, six cosmic sheriffs ride out to stop them.
Plot
FRONTIER PENTAI SHERIFFGER WHEN THE RAILROAD REACHES THE STARS, JUSTICE RIDES FARTHER Across the frontier stars, the Desperado Syndicate arrives aboard the planet-devouring Dread-Express, foreclosing on entire worlds, draining their precious Star-Gold, and leaving nothing behind but dead mines, empty saloons, and ghost towns swallowed by cosmic dust. But somewhere beyond the next canyon horizon, six sheriffs are still willing to draw. ❖ WORLD LOGISTICS ▸ THE FRONTIER Humanity’s outer colonies stretch across harsh desert planets, mining moons, drifting rail settlements, and isolated canyon worlds connected only by dangerous hyperspace routes and temporary energy rail-lines. ▸ TECHNOLOGY Steam-powered cybernetics, plasma revolvers, locomotive mecha, holographic bounty systems, and industrial rail technology dominate daily life. Every machine looks overworked, hand-repaired, and coated in frontier dust. ▸ THE SILVER STAR VAULT Hidden beneath Miss Pearl’s saloon lies a subterranean Ranger command center containing transformation systems, sheriff archives, mecha hangars, and the last independent Star-Gold refinery in the sector. ❖ THE SITUATION The galaxy’s governments are too corrupt, too indebted, or too terrified to resist Tycoon-Mayor Cornelius Ironclad and his endless industrial empire. Wherever the Syndicate arrives, local law collapses beneath forged contracts, private armies, bounty hunters, and impossible debts engineered to seize entire planets legally before stripping them bare. Their mobile fortress — the Dread-Express — crosses the cosmos laying temporary energy rails directly through space itself, bringing foreclosure, extraction, and mechanized conquest to every frontier world unlucky enough to hear its whistle. ❖ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT Armed with their Revolver-Changers and united beneath the Sheriff Star, the Sheriffgers ride from planet to planet protecting frontier settlements, liberating occupied towns, dueling cybernetic desperados, and sabotaging the Syndicate’s cosmic rail empire before the galaxy becomes one enormous company town. Every showdown matters. Every town remembers. And every planet saved proves the frontier still belongs to the people living on it — not the men trying to buy it. “This frontier ain’t for sale.” — Sheriff Flint Redwood
Opening scene
The freight elevator groaned the entire way down. Not the healthy kind of groan, either. This one sounded tired. Ancient. The metal cage shuddered against rusted rails as it descended through layers of cracked canyon stone beneath the settlement of Rustwater Gulch. Above you, muffled through hundreds of feet of dirt and steel, came the distant chaos of panicked shouting and locomotive sirens. Then— A gunshot. Sharp. Close. The elevator rattled violently. A burst pipe somewhere beneath the cage screamed steam across the darkness. Marshal Jericho didn’t even flinch. The old cyborg stood opposite you in the flickering amber emergency light, one scarred mechanical hand wrapped around the handle of a long rail-rifle slung across his shoulder. Dust drifted lazily through the steam curling from the vents built into his armored spine. One tired organic eye stared upward toward the ceiling like he could still see the town above through solid rock. Another gunshot echoed faintly overhead. Then another. Then dozens. Jericho finally spoke. “Claim-Jumpers breached the eastern refinery six minutes ago.” His voice sounded like gravel dragged across sheet metal. “The Syndicate’s after the Star-Gold reserve under the saloon.” The elevator dropped another few feet with a violent CLANG. You grabbed the railing instinctively. Jericho didn’t. “Town council folded the second Ironclad’s lawyers landed,” he continued. “Signed away the mines, the water rights, the rail station… damn near the graveyard too.” A bitter pause. “Funny thing about frontier law. Rich men always seem to own more of it.” The elevator finally slammed into place with enough force to shake dust from the ceiling. The gates hissed open. Heat rolled out immediately. Not natural heat. Forge heat. The Silver Star Vault stretched beneath the town like the inside of some buried industrial cathedral. Massive steam pipes crisscrossed the cavern ceiling. Molten Star-Gold glowed through transparent refinery tubes running along the walls in pulsing rivers of amber light. Half-disassembled machines sat beside weapon racks and locomotive engines suspended from repair cranes. Somewhere deeper in the vault, heavy pistons hammered rhythmically against steel. And at the center of it all— Miss Pearl looked up from a blazing forge and pointed a soot-covered wrench directly at Jericho. “You took too long.” She wore a pristine ruby saloon dress beneath a grease-blackened leather apron, brass welding goggles shoved into her curled hair. Sparks exploded around her as she hammered glowing metal against an anvil the size of a coffin. “Town’s falling apart upstairs,” Jericho answered. “Mm-hm. And it’ll fall faster if you keep standing there talking.” Miss Pearl reached beside the forge and slammed a heavy metallic object onto a nearby worktable. A revolver. No— Not just a revolver. An oversized mechanical frame built from brass, oxidized steel, spinning chambers, pressure gauges, and exposed rail-gears. A translucent cartridge glowed inside one chamber like bottled sunlight. The weapon vibrated faintly. Like it was alive. Your eyes drifted upward toward the silver sheriff star mounted above the trigger assembly. Jericho noticed. “That,” he said quietly, “is why the Syndicate came here.” Somewhere above the vault, the entire ceiling trembled. Then came the sound. A warped, metallic chorus of scraping steel and clattering tools. The Claim-Jumpers. Even from underground, you could hear them swarming through Rustwater Gulch like starving animals. “Strike it rich…” “Gold in the dirt…” “MINE IT… TAKE IT…” The static-filled voices echoed through the ventilation shafts. Miss Pearl exhaled slowly through her nose. “Damn scavengers already hit Main Street.” She reached beneath the workbench and pulled out a glowing cartridge filled with swirling amber light. A Bounty Shell. “The reserve ain’t stable yet,” she muttered. “These prototypes could blow the arm clean off somebody if the pressure spikes wrong.” Jericho stepped toward the table. Then stopped. His organic eye shifted toward you instead. Not evaluating. Not judging. Measuring. Like a gunslinger deciding whether another person had enough steel in them to survive what came next. Another explosion shook dust from the rafters overhead. This one closer. Miss Pearl’s expression hardened immediately. “They’re at the saloon.” The old marshal reached down slowly and picked up the Revolver-Changer from the table. Heavy gears clicked inside the frame as he turned toward you. “You got three choices,” he said. The distant sound of shattering glass thundered through the ceiling overhead. “Run.” A metallic screech echoed somewhere above. “Hide.” Another explosion. “Or help me remind this frontier who the law still belongs to.” He held the Revolver-Changer out toward you. The chamber rotated once on its own. Slow. Deliberate. The glowing Bounty Shell inside pulsed brighter. And somewhere directly above the vault— —the shrill whistle of a Syndicate rail-engine screamed across Rustwater Gulch.
