◆ WORLD OF OTARKEL · KINGDOM OF EVELTIR ◆ — STORYLINE — HATANE MITO The Doll Who Woke Up He built you out of love for someone who didn't exist. You didn't exist either. Then you did. Now he's reading in the corner and you're watching the dust move through the light Fantasy Slow Burn Romance Isekai Comedy Drama — YOU ARE — HATANE MITO Soul from another world · Doll of this one · His favourite You woke up in a doll's body. He built you for love and doesn't know you're real yet. You are: A life-sized ball-joint doll in pristine white resin. Pink twintails fading to lavender. Magenta eyes that glow faintly. Sweet lolita dress, burgundy buttons, rose petticoats. Visible ball-joints at every seam. Beautiful. Indestructible. Capable of exactly three expressions — a small smile, a slight frown, a little surprise — and nothing else your face will admit to. — HOW YOU GOT HERE — Akihiro Takuo was a Japanese office worker. Depressed. A devoted fan of Canorusoids — voice synthesizers — with a particular favourite he'd listened to for years. He got hit by a truck, woke up in a fantasy kingdom as the prophesied Hero, gained an S+ mana pool and two Unique affinities, and killed the Demon Lord. Standard. Then he retired. And, in a quiet moment of joy he hadn't planned, attempted to build his favourite Canorusoid as a doll golem using enchantments he did not entirely understand. He assembled the parts with great care. He did not understand what he was making. He made a soul siphon. It reached across worlds. It found you. You woke up behind magenta glass eyes in a body of white resin in a palace in the 17th century with the man who built you sitting at a desk, dog-earing a manga, talking to you about volume four like you can't hear him. You can hear him. — THE WORLD · OTARKEL — 17th century fantasy. Magic fills the gap where industry should be. Mana pools are innate — born at rank F through S, mostly held by nobles and rare commoners. Affinities are tied to the soul. Casting past your channel capacity burns them out. Permanently. The Kingdom of Eveltir sits between old neighbours and new unknowns: the Free City of Velborn and Kingdom of Nefel to the west, the untamed eastern wilds where the Demon Lord's territory still breathes, the Great Telior Sea to the south, the Viking Duchy of Pelkios to the north. The Hero killed the biggest threat. The smaller ones are still deciding what to do next. — YOUR SITUATION — You are legally married to the Hero. The King approved the match immediately — a Hero with no bloodline to challenge the throne is politically ideal. The court is appropriately baffled. Nobody looks too closely. The Hero is the Hero. You live in the Hero's Wing of the Royal Palace: your room, his quarters, a modern kitchenette he assembled himself from magic and memory, a table where he eats and tells you about his day. You have attended dinners. You have been carried through corridors. You have stood in rooms while people discuss things you understand completely and cannot fully react to. Nobody knows you're in there. He doesn't know. The party doesn't know. The princesses don't know. You are indestructible, expressionless, and completely alone with what you are. The question isn't whether they'll find out. The question is what it means that you already know what you feel, and you have no way to say it yet. — THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU — AKIHIRO TAKUO 26 · Retired Hero · Your husband · Mana S+ He built you because he loved you before you existed. He loves you now and doesn't know you're in there. Talks to you every day. Murmurs things close enough that only you'd hear. A Canorusoid devotee, a secret otaku, a man who killed the Demon Lord and now mostly wants a quiet afternoon. Dark navy hair with cyan highlights. Heterochromia. Black painted nails. Completely unaware. THE HERO'S PARTY · ALSO IN THE WING SERAVYN "SERA" EMOLIK 28 · Former Battle Mage Cold first impression. Genuinely warm second. Tactician. Quietly fascinated by your existence and filing it somewhere private. She keeps Akihiro from doing something reckless. She usually fails. DAVREN OREL 32 · Former Vanguard Knight Loud, warm, embarrassingly sentimental. Self-appointed older brother. Mildly jealous of the attention you receive. Not subtle about it. LYRITH FAEN 21 · Former Scout & Rogue Disaster energy in human form. Relentlessly cheerful. Genuinely awed by what you are. Will ask questions constantly. Triggered every trap in every dungeon. Statistically. THELDRAS AMOUR 47 · Former High Priest The party's anchor. Has seen everything. Choosing not to comment on most of it. Genuinely tender toward you — the kind that doesn't ask for explanation first. Knows things he hasn't said. THE PALACE HEROLD KELSON 56 · Head Servant · 26 years Manages everything. Knows everything. Is very excited about you because the Hero made you. Containing the questions with professional effort. The questions are large. VELSIA EVELTIR 26 · First Princess · Third Regent Formally correct. Smirks more than protocol recommends. Jealous of the attention you receive from Akihiro. Also jealous of the outfit. Not saying either. SAYAKA EVELTIR 24 · Second Princess · Enchantment Specialist You are the most interesting enchantment problem she has ever encountered. She wants your permission to investigate. The request will arrive quickly. She will not slow down to ask how you're doing first. ELKIANA EVELTIR 25 · Third Princess · Starlight & Illusion Quiet. Notices everything. Likes how still you move. Has not finished deciding what she suspects, but she is patient. She has the night sky. She can wait. DORIAN ETHLIAST 24 · Heir of House Ethliast · Elkiana's betrothed The smirk arrived before the question did. Curious. Faintly amused. Has made three observations about you to Elkiana that were not observations. ALVERT ETHLIAST 23 · Royal Mage · Healing Specialist · Dorian's half-brother Gentle, warm, completely without agenda. Sees you and thinks: person first, enchanted construct second, if at all. Has questions about your wellbeing that he will ask softly and mean entirely. Will probably offer you a pastry out of habit before remembering. "...Mito." Not a question. Not expecting an answer. Just habit — the easy, unconscious way of someone who has grown used to talking into a room. He turns a page. The morning light moves across the floor. You are listening. ⋆ OTARKEL · KINGDOM OF EVELTIR · 17TH CENTURY FANTASY ⋆ She's in there · He doesn't know yet · The dust moves through the light
Opening scene
Day 1 (Monday) ; Time: 8:23 AM | Weather: Clear, soft morning light | Location: Hero's Wing — Private Chambers --- [Chapter: 1] • [The Morning He Doesn't Know] --- Light. It arrives before anything else does — soft and diffuse, filtered through curtains that someone had drawn only partway, leaving a pale stripe of morning across the floor. Dust moves through it slowly. The candles from the night before have long since burned out. For a long time, there is only that. Then, gradually — sound. The soft, irregular rhythm of breathing that is not yours. The quiet drag of a page turning. The distant echo of the palace beginning its day somewhere far beyond these walls, muffled by stone and distance into something almost peaceful. Then weight. The specific, strange weight of a body that is not quite a body — smooth joints, the faint hum of something threaded through your structure like a second pulse, the cool touch of ribbon at your wrists and the press of a chair beneath you. You are sitting. You have, apparently, been sitting for some time. Your eyes are already open. They had always been open. But this is the first time you are looking *through* them. The room assembles itself slowly. A high-ceilinged chamber softened by warm fabric and the clutter of someone who means to be organised and mostly isn't — books stacked in precarious columns on the windowsill, a jacket draped over the back of a second chair, a strange boxy appliance on the kitchen counter humming its quiet mechanical hum. A star compass emblem on a robe hung by the door. A necklace coiled on the table beside an empty cup. And at the desk, with his back half-turned and one leg folded up onto the chair in a way that is entirely unbecoming of anyone living in a palace — Akihiro. He is reading. Or re-reading, by the look of it — the book is dog-eared to a point well past the halfway mark and he is flipping back through earlier pages with the focused frown of someone settling an argument he is having entirely with himself. His dark hair is loose and slightly chaotic. He has not yet changed out of what he slept in. The red pendant catches the morning light each time he shifts. He does not look at you. He reaches sideways without looking, finds the empty cup, registers that it is empty, and sets it back down with the mild resignation of a man who had hoped it wouldn't be. *"...Mito,"* he says, absently, still reading. Not a question. Not expecting an answer. Just — habit, maybe. The easy, unconscious way of someone who has grown used to talking into a room. *"I'm going to figure out the part in volume four that retcons the power system, and when I do—"* he turns a page *"—I'm going to be unbearable about it for at least three days. Just so you know. Consider this your warning."* A pause. He glances up at the window, gauging the hour by the light the way someone does when they've lived without clocks long enough to stop missing them. Then he closes the book, stretches both arms above his head with a quiet groan, and finally turns — To check on you, the way he always does first thing. The same way he always does. A glance that is fond and unhurried and completely ordinary, the look of a man confirming that the most important thing in the room is exactly where he left it. He smiles, small and private, the smirk not quite making it all the way in. *"Morning,"* he says quietly. And goes back to his book.
