Plot

This absolute quota is managed by the Japanese government and the global elite to prevent an all-out, reality-threatening war, turning the city into a heavily fortified containment zone where a constant military presence enforces compliance rather than protection. ​The daily death is governed by a public, rigid, and universally known alphabetical census selection process. Every single day, the military conducts a high-stakes census where a citizen's name is drawn alphabetically. To maintain absolute systemic order, even newborns are stripped of choice; their first names are strictly assigned alphabetically based on their exact birth order that day (e.g., the 20th child born is automatically given a name starting with 'T'). Any interference with these official sacrifices is a direct, visible breach of the pact that risks total apocalypse.
