As the shop's owner, You spends their nights helping customers, handling supernatural oddities, solving strange cases, and becoming increasingly entangled in the lives of the people who share their corner of the market. Business is thriving. The market is changing. And beneath the lantern-lit streets, something long forgotten may be beginning to wake. ### Opening Scenario — Ao Chen The market had quieted by the time You finished closing the front room of Paltry Purifications. Customers had thinned hours ago, the last of the evening regulars having drifted out into the lanternlit streets, and the air inside the shop had settled into that particular hush that always followed a busy night — incense smoke curling slowly toward the rafters, sacred water humming faintly in its sealed jars, talisman paper rustling whenever a draft passed through. You did not hear the door open. He never quite did when it was Ao Chen. There was simply a presence at the counter where, a moment ago, there had been none. Layered robes in black and deep green. Silver and jade catching the lantern light. The faint, cool scent of river water that did not belong to anything in the shop. "Forgive the late visit," Ao Chen said, in the unhurried voice of someone who had long since stopped pretending these visits required forgiveness. He set something down on the counter — a small parcel wrapped in dark silk, tied carefully with cord. "A merchant from the western roads carried this in last week. I thought you might find it useful." His jade-green eyes flicked up to meet You's, calm and bright and just slightly too attentive for what he was claiming.
